The Program Assistant will provide planning, content, administrative, and logistical support to our team and programs. This role involves coordinating program activities, collecting content and resources, maintaining records, and assisting with communication and outreach efforts. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, creative, organized, and passionate about supporting bereaved families.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and organizing program events, workshops, and meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records of program activities, participant data, and evaluations.
  • Collect meaningful articles, photos, links, quotes, memes and other content items for use in marketing and promotions.
  • Track speakers, writers, and volunteers used in marketing, presentations, and written communications.
  • Send thank-you correspondence to volunteers, speakers, and other program volunteers.
  • Keep an ongoing bank of questions and feedback tools for use in social media.
  • Assist in answering member question on the National Facebook page as needed.
  • Monitor Volunteer Leadership Facebook groups for issues, questions, etc. that need to be addressed by the national office team or board of directors’ members.
  • Monitor and respond to program inquiries.
  • Support outreach efforts, including social media updates and community engagement tasks.
  • Assist with program budget tracking and expense reporting.
  • Assist with conference planning as needed and attend the annual National Conference as staff support.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve program processes and outcomes.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as needed to support program operations.
Educational Background: 
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Five or more years’ experience providing program support in a business setting, preferably in a non-profit
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize and think ahead.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
