About Climate TRACE

Climate TRACE is a coalition of over 150 non-profits, tech companies, universities, and individual researchers pooling their expertise in AI, remote sensing, and emissions data to collectively build an open, highly advanced, comprehensive global greenhouse gas measurement system. Each month, Climate TRACE analyzes the emissions of over 745 million emitting assets worldwide. Over the last five years, the project has grown rapidly from a few scrappy volunteers to now the most widely used source of emissions data worldwide.

WattTime is the environmental nonprofit that serves as the secretariat of Climate TRACE. We specialize in developing and helping others develop very specific advances in emissions data that make it possible to reduce more emissions, faster, cheaper, and more reliably. Outside of Climate TRACE we are best known for developing techniques used by over 1 billion devices (solar panels, EVs, iPhones, smart thermostats, etc) to increase their impact.

About the Role

Today, Climate TRACE fundraising is conducted entirely part-time by a group of senior Climate TRACE coalition leaders. We are now hiring for our first full-time role to take our fundraising to the next level.

As a results-oriented Development Manager, you will be the primary person responsible for Climate TRACE coalition fundraising. You will build and maintain donor pipelines, support these leaders in following up with written proposals, negotiate foundation grants, build and maintain some donor relationships yourself, and help coordinate a team of individuals working part-time on Climate TRACE fundraising alongside their other responsibilities.

A unique aspect of Climate TRACE is that it is a coalition, not an organization. You will need to be comfortable working in a team of people who all support this work part-time on behalf of different employers. What binds us together is our shared commitment to cutting emissions.

The ideal candidate is experienced with nonprofit fundraising (environmental nonprofit experience preferred) and can dive in immediately to writing call sheets, proposals, cultivating long-term donor relationships, updating pipelines, evolving strategy based on data, making pitches, and supporting others to do so. This role requires strong execution ability, high productivity, strong collaboration, and strategic thinking.
