Executive Director
As an Executive Director, lead The Squared Network’s mission to scale free, STEM-based summer programs for first-gen high-schoolers—overseeing operations, recruiting students & staff, and driving in annual fundraising to support students across the country.
The Executive Director, with the assistance of a Deputy Director, oversees the operations of a Squared program, managing everything from student selection to travel logistics and budgeting. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Planning and executing a Squared program by managing the following:
- Day-to-day programming
- Travel and operational logistics
- Class and active placements
- Student performance and wellness monitoring
- Staff management and development
- Budgeting and cost management
- Recruiting and enrolling 30 high school students annually to join the Squared program
- Hiring and training 20+ summer staff members annually for the Squared program, including:
- Deputy Director
- Resident Advisors
- Teaching Faculty Members
- Leadership and Culture Intern
- Student Support Specialist
- Nurse
- Active instructors
- Fundraising new commitments annually for the Squared program (amount could range from $100 to $800K based on age of program and experience of candidate)
- Forming strong relationships with Host School leadership (e.g., Head of School, CFO, Director of Summer programs).
- Additional responsibilities (non-exhaustive):
- Alumni support (e.g., networking, career pipelines, etc.)
- Cross-Squared program strategizing (e.g., curriculum development)
- Squared Network broad strategic initiatives (e.g., expansion, etc.)
You’ll succeed here if you have:
- 3+ years in program leadership or nonprofit operations
- Proven track record hitting recruitment and/or fundraising targets
- Comfort managing budgets $500K+ and 10–20 staff
- A coach‑style leadership approach and mission‑driven mindset
- Exceptional remote‑work discipline (we’re ~95% distributed, with a 6‑week on‑site sprint)
And bonus points for:
- Prior summer program or youth‑development experience, especially as an alum
- Familiarity with first‑gen college‑access challenges
- Grant writing or major‑gifts pedigree
Compensation & Benefits
- Total Compensation Package (includes benefits and bonus): $101,100
- Base Salary: $80,000 per year
- Performance Bonus: Up to $10,000 annually (driven by student recruitment, faculty recruitment, fundraising, and performance reviews)
- Paid Time Off: 14 PTO days plus 5 paid sick days
- 401(k) Plan: Up to 4% match of Salary + Bonus (maximum $3,600)
- Healthcare Benefits:
- 100% employer‐paid premiums for base health plan
- Dental and vision coverage up to 80% of premiums (benefit value $7,500)
- Total Benefits Value: $11,100
- Total Take-Home Pay (includes bonus, excludes benefits): $90,000
