Development and Communications Director
Jones Valley Teaching Farm’s Development and Communications Director will create and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive multi-year development strategy for fundraising. This strategy will include individual, government, corporate, foundation, and in-kind investments. The role will lead the planning and execution of JVTF’s signature fundraising event, grant reporting, and donor/investor stewardship. The Director will oversee the implementation of JVTF’s annual communication. The role manages a team that works across departments and with external partners to ensure the financial and organizational health and growth of JVTF.
A successful Development and Communications Director must possess extraordinary drive, flexibility, intuitiveness, and organizational skills. They must enjoy collaboration with an energetic, high-performing team and be comfortable leading people within the organization. They must be confident in their abilities to play a major role in building a strong funding base to sustain and grow our organization.
A Development and Communications Director will also provide overall leadership in communicating Jones Valley Teaching Farm’s mission and methods to our funding and community partners, and they will work directly with the Executive Director to ensure that our financial growth runs parallel to our program and staff growth.
Leadership

Serve on the Leadership Team, which collectively works to ensure that the organization’s programs are relevant, meaningful, effective, and measured within each partner school and community

Lead collaborative hiring process for Development and Communications staff
Development Strategy & Fundraising

Collaborate with the Executive Director to design and implement a robust fundraising strategy that identifies and establishes strategic alliances/partnerships that will help the organization secure local, regional, and national funding

Collaborate with the Executive Director to encourage Board Members to identify prospects and be “door openers” to set and meet fundraising goals

Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners locally, regionally, and nationally

Identify, cultivate, and solicit new gifts for JVTF; foster relationships with donors/investors through personal visits and communications; build a pipeline of future major gift donors/investors

Ensure that grant proposals and reports align with the strategic vision and objectives of the Executive Director and programming

Ensure timely and accurate report deliveries to funders

Ensure proper management of JVTF’s donor database (Bloomerang)

Lead the strategy, design, and implementation for annual fundraising events, including Twilight Supper, Harvest Circle, and others as needed
Communications

Develop and execute a compelling communications strategy that elevates JVTF’s brand and mission to donors, community partners, and national audiences

Speak and represent JVTF in front of various audiences, including current donors, potential donors, government agencies, and community meetings
Financial Management

Collaborate with the Leadership Team to develop an annual budget

Work to meet annual and multi-year development and funding goals and ensure that these goals run parallel to program and growth

Meet monthly with the Leadership Team to review funding reports and forecasts

Compensation Range- $104K-$110K
