Join Our Team as Executive Director at Wave Aquatics!

Wave Aquatics, the leading provider of aquatics programming in Puget Sound's Eastside community, is seeking an inspiring Executive Director who is ready to take our organization into an exciting new chapter. With a proven legacy that began as a swim team in the mid-1980s, Wave has evolved remarkably, now managing two aquatic centers and offering an array of programs that cater to our community's diverse needs—from swim lessons for all ages to competitive teams and community recreation opportunities. As we partner with Eastside organizations to expand and enhance our facilities, we need a strategic leader who can navigate the challenges of growth while uplifting our passionate staff team. Are you ready to make a difference in our community by ensuring high-quality aquatics programming for all?

At Wave Aquatics, we have cultivated a vital resource that contributes not only to health and fitness but also to the overall quality of life for Eastside residents. With an annual budget ranging from $3.5 million to $4.5 million and over 100 staff members—many of whom are young individuals seeking their first job experiences—we pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace. Our organization thrives through partnerships with local municipalities and school districts, allowing us to broaden our reach and impact. As the Executive Director, you will play a pivotal role in guiding the strategic direction of Wave, ensuring that we continue to fulfill our mission while adapting to the evolving needs of our community.

In this influential position, you will collaborate closely with our Board of Directors and our dedicated leadership team to implement innovative plans that optimize program offerings and maintain fiscal responsibility. You will supervise key team members who lead various aquatics programs and directly engage with staff to cultivate a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence. From managing community relationships to overseeing vital fundraising strategies, your skills and experience are essential to enhancing Wave's reputation as a beacon of community recreation and wellness.

Compensation/Benefits:

If you are a dynamic leader with a passion for aquatics and a commitment to equity and access, we encourage you to apply for the Executive Director role at Wave Aquatics. We are looking for candidates with a blend of relevant leadership experience, financial acumen, and a strong ability to foster relationships with diverse stakeholders. With a starting salary ranging from $120,000 to $135,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package (relocation assistance may be available) and opportunities for professional growth, this position not only offers a chance to lead but also to impact the lives of countless individuals in our community. Together, let’s create a future where everyone has access to top-quality aquatics programming!

Founded in 1987, the organization began when Northshore, Redmond, and Totem Lake swim teams merged in order to provide more opportunity and a stronger foundation for swimmers in the Lake Washington and Northshore school district areas. Wave has operated the Juanita Aquatics Center (Juanita HS Pool) in Kirkland since 2009, and the Redmond Pool on Education Hill since 2010.

Wave's programs serve thousands of Eastside residents of all ages annually through its swim team, swim lessons, masters swim team, water polo team, fitness & wellness programs, recreational swimming and pool rentals.
