Accounting Manager

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The accounting manager leads the accounting staff, follows accounting policies and internal control procedures, and is responsible for the preparation of complete and accurate financial statements and operating reports. Intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Prepares monthly financial statements and metrics for distribution to management and board.
  • Prepares monthly General Ledger Account Reconciliations.
  • Develops and maintains efficient fixed asset reporting.
  • Effectively report and track restricted gifts and earnings.
  • Responsible for cash management activities.
  • Prepares and manage the annual audit process with outside auditors.
  • Assists with tax and regulatory filings.
  • Hires, trains, and oversees assigned staff, providing direct supervision.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
  • Five or more years of related experience in accounting.
  • Demonstrated progressive accounting experience with general ledger in a nonprofit organization preferred.
  • Experience in a supervisory accounting role.
  • Ability to work with enterprise software and payroll systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $54,950.00 - $61,000.00
