As an Associate Director of Institutional Advancement, you will work directly with staff and volunteers to educate members, donors, and constituents about the powerful impact of the Y and assist in the management of over 100 major gift donors.
Under the leadership of the Director of Institutional Advancement, the Institutional Advancement Associate Director is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships that will improve the impact on the Y’s cause, managing a portfolio of prospects and supporting each of the Association’s Branches in the development and delivery of an annual giving year-long strategy.

Principal Responsibilities:
- Ensure that you provide excellent donor and member service by:
- building relationships
- making donors, members and volunteers feel welcome
- being courteous and respectful at all times
- working with staff, members and volunteers to advance the Y’s cause
- In collaboration with Branch leadership, design and deliver a year-long annual giving strategy that meets established financial targets:
- Support each of the Association’s Branches in developing and maintaining a portfolio of 20 to 30 perspective donors at each of our five locations
- Work in collaboration with Branch leadership to identify top potentials (individuals as well as local businesses)
- Provide in-depth information relative to capacity, interest, giving history, community engagement, etc. on top prospects
- Develop stewardship plans for each prospect and support staff and volunteers in engagement meetings and other activities throughout the year
- Build and strengthen relationships with local businesses and foundations through the development and submission of grant/sponsorship requests
- Track stewardship activities
- Provide training to staff and volunteers as needed to build capacity within the branches
- Assist in developing/enhancing relationships throughout the communities served through the creation of letters and other collateral materials speaking to the Y’s cause, storytelling, impact, organizational highlights, etc.
- Support the efforts of the Department in establishing an annual timeline of strategies at each of the Branches that strategically provide education, usage of charitable dollars and stories of impact to donors and top prospects
- Provide leadership to Signature and Association Events that raise awareness and funds for the Y’s mission and cause. Solicit sponsorships, support Branch involvement and coordinate logistics
- Utilize data from the Association’s membership and fundraising system to track progress and demonstrate impact
- Other duties as assigned by the Director and/or President/CEO as assigned.
The Associate Director will hold a Bachelors’ Degree, with a minimum of three to five years of experience in relationship management, successful fundraising and/or other related field, along with:
- the capacity to foster and sustain community based relationships to advance the cause of the YMCA
- the ability to research perspective donor profiles
- extraordinary and creative writing and speaking skills
- proven track record of working with volunteers
- the ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in an organized manner
- maintaining the practice of handling donor information, exercising confidentiality at all times
- the ability to work as part as a team.
Hourly: $19.00 - $24.00
