Under the direction of the Aquatic Director, the Coordinator will assist in all aspects of running a busy aquatics department.  The Coordinator will assist with the operation and administration of all aquatic programs at the Greendale Family Branch and within the community.  Additional responsibilities include program development, training and coaching staff and handling day-to-day administrative responsibilities.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Ensure that the highest member service standards are constantly maintained in the aquatic department.
  • Assist with implementation and supervision of all aquatic programs and collaborations ensuring the highest quality and adherence to YMCA standards.
  • Ensure appropriate staff coverage for all aquatic classes and lifeguard shifts. Will cover any unoccupied shifts.
  • Actively teach or lifeguard 25-30 hours per week or as needed.
  • Provide assistance with in-service training of staff on a regular basis to ensure the highest standards of safety and Risk Management.
  • Ensure the highest standards for aquatic safety including Department of Public Health standards are constantly maintained.
  • Ensure the Character Development and YMCA focus areas are implemented in the aquatic department and programs.
  • Make sure clear, concise and consistent information is communicated to members and staff.
  • Play an active leadership role in the branch’s Annual Campaign, assist leadership in the successful completion of the campaign and other related special events and activities.
  • Attend Aquatic Mission Impact Team meetings and other required meeting within the Branch and Association.
  • Assume responsibility for the physical upkeep of the pool and department.
  • Assist in any and all branch programs and activities at the request of the Aquatic Director.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree preferred and/or at least two years of experience in an aquatics setting.
Skills/Experience: 

 One year of supervisory experience is required.  The Coordinator must complete and maintain certifications as a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor as well as CPR/FA/AED.  Must be certified in Aquatic Facilities Management.  Strong communication and human relation skills are required as the Coordinator will have extensive contact with both members and staff.  We are seeking a decision-maker who can focus on aquatic safety and establishing and maintaining efficient operations within the department.

Compensation/Benefits: 

Hourly: $14.00
