Armed Services YMCA is seeking a skilled Programs Manager for a full-time position at our corporate headquarters located in Woodbridge, VA.  Our organization provides quality programs and services for junior enlisted military personnel and their families.  The Programs Manager will be responsible for the execution of programs and services throughout the organization as well as the accuracy and functionality of the organization’s membership and volunteer data.

The Programs Manager will work in concert with Marketing and Communications, Finance, Development and the national program teams.  The Programs Manager will report to the Chief Programs Officer.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Implements and executes national core programs.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for national core programs.
  • Supports the Chief Programs Officer in the development and oversight of measurement systems assessing the impact of programs.
  • Provides regular and concise reports as requested.
  • Manages and maintains with current information the organization’s programs databases.
  • Provides training to staff on how to access, verify and analyze membership, volunteer and programmatic data, including the optimal utilization of the data and the effective collection of information. 
  • Must be able to translate the data into understandable, credible, relevant information to assist the enterprise in sharing the impact of the mission for development purposes.
  • Creates programs and activity templates for organizational use.
  • Monitors the member and volunteer database to ensure that the organization meets mandatory programmatic obligations.
  • Manage national partner memberships for constructive ways to benefit of the entire organization.
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings, events and programs as required.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required with minimum three (3) years of experience in business operations or relative experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to handle a wide range of relationships and situations with diplomacy, tact and a clear, courteous and professional manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail, specifically in regards to the distribution of information from our membership and volunteer management system.
  • Highly proficient computer skills, including Internet and general office software (e.g., Microsoft Office); especially advanced skills in Excel and data manipulation.
  • Strong proficiency with computer applications including, Office 365, Windows based programs, CRM databases and Hubspot.
  • Prior work at a non-profit preferred.
  • Previous experience in working with the military a plus.
  • Experience with Amilia database software a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as in teams.
  • Must be available for travel (e.g., local meetings, events) and for overnight business travel, up to 10% time.
