The Hiring and Recruiting Coordinator provides information, assistance, and knowledge to ensure that the hiring process is efficient, professional, and ethical. This individual is responsible for communicating hiring statistics with the HR department, providing support to hiring managers, and ensuring frequent and effective communication with applicants. The position will also work closely with the Association Recruiter to be an onsite liaison to that role. Seeking center specific recruiting ideas and maintaining an updated list of open YR and seasonal requisitions.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Hire seasonal staff and keep accurate records of hiring statistics in order to keep HR Director, Asst. HR Director, and department managers informed of staffing levels.
  • Communicate changes and cancellations to HR staff and appropriate department manager and/or supervisor.
  • Assist anyone who comes into the HR office or calls with their questions and concerns.
  • Screen applicants to make sure they meet YMCA requirements.
  • Contact references and complete reference forms for applicants as needed, and keep applicants updated on the status of their application.
  • Give direction to the Hiring Assistant and any seasonal hiring support staff on what is needed during the different stages of the hiring process.
  • Maintain Human Resources Employee Manager computer database and files.
  • Assist in application tracking and reference posting utilizing Ascentis Staffing Center.
  • Input all new hires into Employee Manager and ensure accuracy and thoroughness in database, including all subsequent updates and changes.
  • Oversee hiring process of all applicants in order to ensure efficiency and prompt responses to applications.
  • Facilitate and encourage communication from hiring managers to applicants as needed.
  • Provide hiring assistance to department hiring managers as necessary.
  • Build rapport with hiring manager and returning employees.
  • Run weekly arrival reports and audit all arrival folders.
  • Assist in training any seasonal HR staff.
  • Assist in communicating new incentives to current and previous employees.
  • Communicate regularly with Association Recruiter jobs to be posted internally and externally.
  • In conjunction with the Association Recruiter, be the onsite lead in the development and implementation of recruiting ideas.
  • Assist in the implementation of an effective staff recruitment plan to meet the center's staffing needs.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Able to work well with frequent interruptions in a busy office environment.
  • Quick learner able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Highly organized and able to complete all tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate in all work.
  • Work independently, take initiative and be responsible and self-motivated.
  • Communicate clearly visually and orally and be fluent in speaking, writing and reading English.
  • Be able to use computer, fax machine, scanner, copy machine, and telephone.
  • Must possess a valid, USA state issued driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.
  • Support the implementation of an effective staff recruitment plan to meet the Center's staffing needs.
  • All other duties as assigned
Compensation/Benefits: 

This is a full-time, year-round, hourly position paying $16/hour with full benefits, including:
