White Jr. Family YMCA and is responsible for running the Youth and Government program for the association, and family life programs for the branch.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Under direction of the Associate Executive Director, and in accordance with the policies of the YMCA of NWNC, the Association Youth & Government Director is responsible for organizing and directing Youth & Government programs for YMCA of NWNC high school students.  The Association Youth and Government Director will work cooperatively with the YMCA NC State office and related YMCA of NWNC branches; local high schools; community organizations, state, local and national officials; and will network with educational organizations to provide well-rounded leadership programs for teenage age youth.  The Association Youth and Government Program Director will have responsibilities for: program promotion; advisor and student recruitment; training volunteers; reporting to volunteer committees; fundraising activities; interpreting projects and activities at all levels of the YMCA and in the community. Other responsibilities include overseeing family life programs at the William G. White Jr. Family YMCA.

The position provides direct supervision to the Family Life Coordinator and the Youth & Government Coordinator, and is also responsible for overseeing staff of the Youth Wellness Center and Childwatch.

Educational Background: 
BA/BS in education, political science, or a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Previous experience (minimum one year) in program leadership and/or management.
  • Ability to recruit, supervise and train volunteers.
  • Strong communication and project management skills, plus an ability to manage multiple demands with ease.
  • Excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving skills required.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • Current CPR, First Aid and AED certifications.
  • Spanish-speaking skills a plus.

$34,500.00 - $38,000.00
