  • Repair and maintenance of all equipment (plumbing, electrical & lighting, carpentry).
  • Repair, maintenance and preventative procedures for swimming pool system including pumps, filters,motors, plumbing, and chemical balance.
  • Fire alarms and extinguishers – preventative and functional checks ensuring safe, operational systems and in compliance with state and local codes.
  • Maintenance of exterior grounds including grass cutting, shrubs, and snow removal.

  • Develop and implement cause-driven programming that promotes Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. 
  • Actively participates in management team meetings and committees as assigned. 
  • Understands, follows and demonstrates the Y Competencies listed below.
  • Play an active role in the annual campaign, recruiting campaigners and serving where needed on planning committees.
  • Work to ensure a diverse and inclusive culture at the Y. 
  • Know and follow the established Human Resources and Business Services procedures of the association. 
  • Responsible for assuring high standards of program quality and safety in accordance with YMCA safety and risk management policies. 
  • Follow all policies and procedures as set forth in the employee handbook, director handbook, department handbook and   the emergency response plan manual. 
  • Collaborate with other directors, Y’s and community groups. 
  • Assure your own self-development through reading, research, and conference or training attendance.
  • Act as a positive role model while implementing YMCA character development and following the four core values of Caring, Honesty, Responsibility, and Respect. 
  • Repair and maintenance of all equipment. 
  • Repair, maintenance and preventative procedures for swimming pool system including pumps, filters, motors, plumbing,  and chemical balancing.
  • Fire Alarms & Extinguishers – Preventative and functional checks ensuring safe, operational systems and in compliance    with state and local codes.
  • Maintenance of exterior grounds including grass cutting, shrubs, and snow removal.
  • Maintenance, repair and replacement of all plumbing.
  • Electrical & Lighting – Preventative maintenance, maintain, repair or replace lighting as needed. Miscellaneous electrical  repairs as needed.
  • Carpentry – Remodeling and specific jobs as requested by the CEO or the Building & Property Committee.
  • Responsible for maintenance of all doors, hardware, and locks related to security.
  • Energy Management – Monitor and control all controls and computers related to energy management systems.
  • Other responsibilities as designated by the CEO or the Building & Property Committee including miscellaneous additional  maintenance, coordinating bids from contractors for special projects, roof repair and maintenance and other responsibilities as needed.
  • Ordering of maintenance equipment for the Y as approved by the CEO.
  • Fixing or contracting out any repairs of property or equipment. 
  • Assist the CEO in developing and following any and all risk management policies needed to operate the department in a  safe and sound fashion and identify and eliminate risks that could cause accidents or incidents.
  • Provide building and/or program set-up support for program staff when needed.
  • Develop and oversee along with the CEO, the department budget for maintenance.
  • Maintain and develop essential and personal certifications in the area of property maintenance. 
Educational Background: 
High school diploma & two years advanced education in a related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Carpentry experience
  • Experience in an aquatic facility or pool operations

Required Certifications

  • Boilers License
  • AFO/CPO Certification a plus
  • CPR/First Aid Certification within 6 months
