Scheduling, Hiring, and training for Lifeguards. This person will also be the on call at the YMCA. Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Creates and maintains shedule for the Lifeguard shifts at the YMCA.
- Required lifeguard duties and responsibilities.
- Assist Aquatics Director with hiring and training of Lifeguards.
- To be on call for the YMCA when guards are not able to attend shift.
- To assist Aquatics Director with monthly in-service for Lifeguards.
- To help with administration duties while at Desk in the Pool area.
- Maintains constant surveillance of the pool area.
- Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Completes related reports as required.
- Maintains effective, positive relationships and communications with the members, participants and other staff.
- Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
- Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
- Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
- Preform and evaluation staff with weekly shift evaluation checks.
- Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
- Performs chemical testing at appropriate times of the day, as required, and takes appropriate action.
- Attends all staff meetings and training as required.
- Understand and operate all areas of computer - Daxko Operations and Accounting.
- Promote and implement Lifeguard and CPR/AED courses to Members, Staff and Community.
- Assist Aquatics Director on promoting all Aquatics programs to Members, Staff and Community.
- Maintain accurate payroll with staff in Daxko and Center Point.
- Help with social media alerts and notifications.
- Assist with any YMCA sponsored events.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum age of 18.
- Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification.
- Current YMCA Lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding Prefered
- Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
- Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
- CPO Preferred(Required within 90 days of hire)
- WSI-Water Safety instructor preferred
- 1-2 years preferred in managing staff
