The Dir. of Membership Sales & Engagement will work closely with the Branch Executive and the Sr. Director of Membership Sales and Engagement to create and implement strategic sales and marketing plans that successfully achieve YMCA objectives and growth and retention of membership while leading a team of Membership Consultants and Member Service Representatives.
Areas of Responsibility:
New Business Generation
- Lead Membership Sales staff and directly responsible for achieving New Membership and Retention Goals through a focused and sales-oriented approach.
- Collaborate with the Association and Branch Executives to establish sales goals.
- Build and manage a healthy pipeline by coordinating sales efforts with the teams and actively sourcing new business for the YMCA via internal and external lead generation.
- Increase prospecting efforts by organizing and conducting blitzes, cold calling, sourcing and enhancing Corporate/Community Partnerships, holding community events, giving in-house tours and implementing guest pass strategies and follow-up.
Sales Administration
- Monitor Listen 360 Results and provides a pro-active approach to potential detractors and drive MPES Scores.
- Develop membership marketing plan for the branch and clearly develop strategy around its promotion.
- Report regularly via meetings and calls Team’s sales status to branch Executives and Association.
Staff & Training
- Utilize all training notes developed to assist Directors in achieving sales goals and coaching their team.
- Communicate, educate and support all membership staff in promoting sales and retention campaigns.
- Develop and conduct in-house training specific to their branch.
Retention
- Create and implement retention strategies for new members, current members, and potential terminations.
- Create and manage member loyalty program by targeting current members on their Birthday/Anniversary/Thank You’s/Coming Soon etc. and hosting member-only events.
- Create and implement a brand ambassador program (with the Association Sr. Director)
Sales strategy
- Collaborate with Branch Executives and Association to establish sales goals and maintain Budget.
- Set sales goals with Membership Consultants and coach team to establish achievement strategy with required activity.
- Identify target market and market segments for growth opportunities.
Marketing
- Clearly communicate all Association and branch level marketing efforts to all Membership staff.
- Manage digital identity and marketing campaigns on all digital platforms.
- Collaborate with local rewards programs & seeking out new opportunities.
General
- Manage Member Comments/Complaints
- Monitor and adhere to branch cleanliness standards.
- Consistently enforce YMCA values and expectations to the team to ensure outstanding membership experience and interaction.
- Perform other duties as directed from time to time.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in sales, marketing, and public relations or a related field
Skills/Experience:
- 3 years of sales/sales team leadership experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing and growing sales within a membership-based organization with revenues exceeding $3 million including setting sales goals, managing budgets.
- Proficient in business software packages (MS Office).
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Demonstrated success in delivering customer service excellence and inspiring performance with sales teams through an entrepreneurial approach to business development and taking ownership of the branch’s success.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy and quality.
- Demonstrated ability to use good judgment and problem-solving skills in daily and emergency situations.

Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $51,800.00 - $77,700.00
