The Competitive Aquatics Director is responsible for the lead coaching and overall program for the Western Family Y Wahoo Swim Team in a manner consistent with the YMCA of Delaware direction and philosophy. This position is responsible for creating and executing a strategy for the Swim Team, Wahoo Academy & Masters Swim Team continuing success for all levels of swimmers, and organizing a qualified coaching staff and volunteer base to conduct the swimming program. The Competitive Aquatics Director will have responsibility to monitor and lead practice groups & swim meets while performing administrative duties as required.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manage the swim team budget under the direction of the Aquatics Director and Senior Leadership.
- Maintain positive, professional communications and interactions with the Swim Team Parents’ Advisory Committee, Volunteers, Community Partners and Y Members.
- Develop new and strengthen existing competitive programming such as stroke clinics for adults and children, Wahoo Academy and Masters Swim Team as necessary.
- Develops and implements a team communication strategy which should include but not limited to: e-mail, team website, and member service communication
- Oversees Parent Advisory Committee volunteers and ensures participation by swim team parents in hosting and assisting with team which can include hosting swim meets and regional events.
- Oversee the maintenance of all swim team equipment, including but not limited to computers, timing systems and score boards
- Ensure all swimmers, families, coaches & volunteers understand the YMCA of Delaware commitment to Child Protection Standards as outlined by USA Swimming, Y-USA and the Federal Safe Sport Act.
- Ensure all volunteers are properly vested and trained as required by the YMCA of Delaware as outlined by the Federal Safe Sport Act and systems are enforced and monitored for continual compliance.
- Ensure all team members & volunteers adhere to and follow all YMCA of Delaware policies and procedures while participating in travel meets and team functions away from the Western Family YMCA pool and facility.
- Ensures all coaches are certified as required by the YMCA of Delaware, USA Swimming & Y-USA to ensure compliance with employment and swim meet participation.
- Ensure all coaches have completed the required trainings required by the YMCA of Delaware as outlined by the Federal Safe Sport Act and that all coaches understand their responsibilities as a Mandatory Reporter of Child Abuse.
- Provide opportunities, where applicable, for coaches to become certified in YMCA Principles of Competitive Swimming, Coaches Safety Training and can begin a career growth path for the ASCA Certifications.
- Identify & recommend opportunities for coaches to broaden skills at clinics or workshops to keep our team on the cutting edge in competitive swimming
- Oversees all YMCA swim team registrations for dual swim meets, invitational swim meets, qualifying meets, USA Swimming registrations, YMCA National registrations and any additional seasonal swim meets and activity fees.
- Inspects the pool, pool area, equipment, and supplies and reports problems to supervisor, including recommendation for new equipment and materials for swim team practices and meets

Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $42,000.00 - $47,300.00
