Under the direction of the Sr. Program Director, the Child Development Director is responsible for the planning, promotion, development, supervision and evaluation of the Child Development Programs (Before and After School Enrichment, School’s Out, Vacation/Holiday Camps), YMCA babysitting (Kids Zone), summer day camps and all youth enrichment programming.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, staffing and evaluating of the Child Development and Enrichment programs. These programs include but are not limited to: summer day camp, Before and After School Enrichment, other School’s Out programs, vacation/holiday camps, Kids Zone babysitting, Club 58, youth enrichment programs.
  • Develop, as scheduled, and control annual budget for program areas. Monitor budget and make corrective adjustments in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate billing of POC.
  • Plan and carry out creative marketing and public relations in the community to ensure program growth.
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff.
  • Hold regular staff meetings.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate and recognize program volunteers.
  • Keep accurate and timely records essential for control and evaluation.
  • Ensure that licensing fee programs are maintained.
  • Measure the degree to which existing programs are meeting the needs and interests of participants and the Branch, making appropriate recommendations and change.
  • Develop a strong rapport and open communications with program parents. Write Parents Newsletter for program areas.
  • Develop and maintain solid relationships and open communications with School Administrators.
  • Maintain annual licensure of all program sites.
Educational Background: 
Minimum of a BA/BS degree in early childhood education, elementary education or related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must have or be eligible for State of DE School Age Administrator Certification and experience with POC guidelines and billing.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in the field of education, childhood programs, childcare or related field is required.
  • Must possess proven successful management skills in planning, organization and staff supervision.
  • The incumbent should be a creative, enthusiastic self-starter who possesses strong skills in human relations, team building, leadership, budget management, program development, marketing and verbal and written communications.
  • The position requires a high level of human relation skills. The incumbent must be able to demonstrate flexibility of leadership and the personality to deal with a variety of people.
  • Must possess a valid Class D driver’s license and personal means of transportation for conducting YMCA business.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $44,600.00 - $50,200.00
