Under the guidance of the Branch Executive Director, this highly motivated individual will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, implementation of the branch aquatic programs, and meeting the aquatic needs of the community. The Director will ensure a safe, fun area for children and adults to interact and enjoy. This position requires face-to-face leadership in these programs and involves early morning, evening, and weekend responsibilities.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Director must demonstrate professionalism, initiative, sound judgment and independent decision-making, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Actively campaign for the Annual Campaign and work to develop donors and volunteers. Serve as a member of the management team and Director on Duty for the facility.
- Lead by example at all times. Interact with a high level of professionalism and accountability.
- May be required to pursue POOL Operator or CPO certification and backwash pool filtration system and monitor pool chemicals
- Ensure safety and cleanliness in pool area.
- Provide excellent service to members and participants. Communicate all pool rules and ensure that you are accessible and identifiable.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Lead the aquatics staff team in providing a safe and enjoyable environment. Respect others by arriving on time and in accordance with schedule.
- Administer first aid to victims using OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Universal Precautions. Provide immediate care to sustain life until Emergency Medical Service arrives.
- Maintain accurate records, certification binder, pool logs.
- Ensure safety and prevent injuries by supervising pool area. Ensure no distraction or interference with the ability to hear or see signs of distress.
- Develop high quality aquatics programs, including swim lessons and water fitness that meet the needs of the community.
- Supervise staff and ensure appropriate staffing of pool.
- Ensure the swimming facility is meeting or exceeding the Aquatic Safety Standards.
- Develop relationships with members and obtain regular feedback on programs. Recommend program enhancements to ensure that member needs are being met.
- Monitor all programs and staff in the pool assigned. Ensure program quality and monitor staff performance and member service.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Lifeguard Certification required within 90 days of hire.
- CPR, O2 and First Aid certifications are required.
- Experience providing leadership to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, program development and fundraising.
- Experience working with individuals, families and communities of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
