The Associate Vice President of Marketing will provide strategic and tactical leadership in marketing and communications to advance the YMCA’s mission. This position will lead a team and collaborate with branch leadership to develop and achieve marketing and communication goals related to member acquisition and retention and staff satisfaction. This position will also oversee the implementation of external marketing, member communication, staff engagement and communication, communication software, and website strategy and development.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Marketing and Communication Strategies:

  • Responsible for Public Relations and Crisis Communication.
  • Partners with leadership teams to develop and direct association marketing and communication strategies and campaigns with internal and external audiences.
  • Leads the design, implementation and facilitation of the association marketing and communications plan, including a strategic membership development plan; with retention-driven messaging and a member acquisition strategy that supports association and branch-specific goals.
  • Develops, implements, and ensures the use of communication standards, resources, procedures and training for the association.
  • Develops and maintains internal and external communications policies and procedures for the association.
  • Leads the organization’s digital marketing, website, mobile app, and social media strategies.

Implementation and Delivery:

  • Oversees the planning, development and execution of the Y’s marketing and advertising initiatives to generate revenue by increasing membership and program growth.
  • Ensures the Y's messages are distributed internally and to targeted audiences to meet objectives.
  • Seeks innovative strategies to deliver messaging, such as mobile platforms, web, video, and social media.
  • Creates the annual communication calendar and provides departmental marketing support and oversight. 

Supervision:

  • Supervises the association’s marketing team and work closely with Membership, Information Technology, and Program teams to accomplish association goals.
  • Develops expectations and training plans, and provides ongoing collaborative coaching and oversight for the marketing team.

Administration:

  • Responsible for brand management.
  • Manages vendor contracts and drive vendor relationships.
  • Ensures the fulfillment of sponsorship agreements.
  • Provides training in marketing and communications. Educates, motivates, and provides feedback to individuals related to best practices in marketing and communications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Fiscal Management:

  • Creates a budget and assists branches in the creation of local budgets.
  • Manages resources and budgets necessary to carry out marketing and communication plans.
  • Monitors monthly financial reports to assure that revenue targets are met and expenses 
    are controlled.
Educational Background: 
Master’s degree in marketing, communication technology, new media, or relevant field of study.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Eight or more years of successful experience in multi-channel marketing, project leadership, and results management with a deep understanding of the intersection of consumer experience, media, marketing and digital technology
  • An expert in identifying, implementing and working with communication automations, the latest marketing trends and technologies, bringing integrated multi-tiered marketing efforts to life and achieving goals
  • Proven ability to be an innovative, creative, proactive and self-directed team player in a fast-paced environment
  • Extensive knowledge in effective use of social media platforms, earned advertising, analytics, tag management, ad management, a variety of CMS, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office; Drupal 7 & 8 experience preferred
  • Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills including ability to compose and curate content, design graphics, write and edit compelling stories, draft statements of work, develop RFPs, manage bids, place media, and supervise and coach others
  • Experience in strategic marketing planning, business process design, behavioral marketing, and data mining and analysis

  • Able to travel to various sites throughout the Greater Wichita YMCA

  • Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively with people and monitor property and activity
  • High level of alertness, concentration, accuracy, and time-management
  • Ability to adapt to working in changing conditions and environments
  • Able to stand, walk or sit for prolonged periods; occasionally stoop/bend
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
  • It is anticipated that an average work week will consist of 50 hours
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $65,000.00 - $85,500.00
