GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the supervision and direction of the Vice President of Properties the Metro Fitness Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing equipment inventory, routine and preventative maintenance, installation, cleaning, and equipment repair to ensure asset integrity, equipment reliability and safety of our fitness/wellness, cardio and strength equipment. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintains up-to-date, accurate and detailed equipment inventory for every facility.
  2. Executes routine and preventative maintenance required to keep fitness equipment in good operating condition; i.e. identifies safety concerns, repairs, maintains, diagnoses, and trouble-shoots all exercise equipment.
  3. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and effectively manage conflicts and assignments under time constraints and changing priorities.
  4. Reports status of work order completion in a timely and routine manner.
  5. Reports on common or recurring equipment issues, replacement issues, and other areas impacting the timely repair of equipment.
  6. Contributes to the team by filling-in as required and sharing knowledge with coworkers and supervisors.
  7. Relocates equipment under direction of supervisor.
  8. Performs routine audit to identify any safety concerns; corrects and/or reports problems promptly.
  9. Responds quickly to emergency situations and concerns; may include evenings and weekends.
  10. Assists in Y fundraising activities and special events including the accomplishment of all departmental campaign goals.

EFFECT ON END RESULT:  Maintains high-level functionality of the fitness equipment at all facilities to ensure satisfaction of members, participants and staf

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

  1. Must be able to frequently perform the following physical activities; climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for extended periods of time, walk, lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity to perform detailed tasks
  2. Must be able to perform work both indoors and out and be exposed to prevalent weather conditions
  3. Must have ability to communicate effectively; both orally and in writing
  4. Must possess problem solving, organizational and task management skills; ability to make independent and sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment
  5. Must be detail oriented and exhibit a high degree of accuracy
  6. Must demonstrate initiative and sound judgment
  7. Must be able to relate to and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner
  8. Ability to work collaboratively as a team member as well as independently and lead by assigned goals, duties and deadlines
  9. Possess ability to exercise high levels of discretion and confidentiality
Skills/Experience: 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be 21 or older
  2. Associates Degree or equivalent work experience
  3. 3 years of experience in electronics and mechanical repair
  4. Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects
  5. Valid license to operate a motor vehicle

  6. Must attend Certified Precor Training
  7. Must attend Certified Cybex/Lifefitness Training
