The Westport Weston Family YMCA is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and engaging leader to fill the role of Youth and Teen Director. This individual will be a leader in our Summer Camp and After School program as well as in our Youth and Teen programs.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Understands and follows all licensure and accreditation regulations for camp and child care programs including: record keeping, training, inspection preparation and planning. Must receive and maintain Head Teacher and Day Camp Director certifications from the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood.
- Builds and maintains a strong staff team through: hiring, training, feedback, scheduling and evaluation. Manages the following staff teams: Camp, Child Care, Kids’ Club, Youth and Teen Night and Teen program staff.
- Manages the YMCA Kids’ Club program to be a safe and welcoming environment for the children while meeting the needs of their parents.
- Responds to youth and teen interest by creating new, non-competitive programs that generate new lines of revenue.
- Directly works 3-4 days a week in the After School program providing supervision of staff and children while running activities.
- Provides leadership to YMCA Camp Mahackeno by leading Unit Director and Counselor staff. Ensures the program is safe and fun for campers and staff.
- Assists in the creation and monitoring of program budgets and ensure that areas of responsibility meet budget expectations. Direct budgetary responsibilities include: Kids’ Club and Youth and Teen programs.
- Plans YMCA Vacation Day Programs including field trips, staffing and facility usage.
- Maintains proper records and department files and completes payroll in a timely manner.
- Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives. Expands Youth Development programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Attends all required meetings and trainings as directed by the Director of Camp and Family Services.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Youth Development, Recreation, Human Services or related field.
Skills/Experience:
- 2 or more years of supervisory experience in summer camp and or youth programming.
- Organized self-starter, possessing time management and organizational skills. Must be capable of managing several projects at one time.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with adults and youth.
- Connecticut Head Teacher and Camp Director Certification or qualifications to receive certifications within 1 month of hire.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification or ability to receive upon hire.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $38,000.00 - $44,000.00
