The Health & Wellness Director will manage all Health and Wellness programs and directly oversee Wellness Center staff and personal trainers. The Director will also lead the Healthy Living Programs Director, who manages a large staff of Group Fitness instructors .
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop, implement and oversee all Health and Wellness programs that reflect the community’s needs and maintain the YMCA’s high standards of quality, safety and character development.
- Assign duties, create schedules for staff, maintain accurate records, including attendance, certifications, skill levels, personnel, and pay records. Hire and on-board new staff as needed.
- Develop annual operation objectives and plans.
- Perform biweekly payroll duties.
- Communicate program information to program participants, staff, and volunteers. Seek member feedback from a variety of sources in all areas of the Department.
- Purchase and organize equipment as needed within budget guidelines.
- Seek out and develop opportunities for partnership with others in the Health & Wellness community.
- Supervise one full time program director and part time personal trainers, Wellness Center staff, group fitness instructors, and chronic disease management staff.
- Meet with Health & Wellness staff as needed and report to Senior Program Director.
- Continually evaluate and develop the Health & Wellness department’s program offering.
- Represent the Family YMCA at necessary meetings, clinics, trainings, and workshops.
- Maintain a high safety standard for participants, staff, and volunteers of the Wellness Center and all Health & Wellness programs.
- Ensure that all equipment is clean and in good working order.
- Ensure that staff are trained and prepared to handle emergency situations and possess current appropriate certifications.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or minimum of 3 years’ experience in Health & Wellness programs, as well as experience in managing facilities, equipment, budget, and staff.
Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge in health fitness programming.
- Certification from a NCCA-sanctioned organization in a related field, such as, ACSM, NSCA, NASM, ACE, AFAA, or ISSA.
- Y-USA Team Leader Certification and all required Y-USA fitness trainings are preferred.
Compensation/Benefits:
$52,000.00 - $58,000.00
