The Membership Development & Marketing Director will provide senior level leadership and direction for the development and execution of comprehensive membership development, marketing, communications and public relations strategies for the Westerly-Pawcatuck Branch. The Membership Development & Marketing Director will develop and implement the membership growth, retention and marketing plans for the Ocean Community YMCA ensuring consistency and integrity of the Y Brand in all communications.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Responsible for membership revenues, creating and targeting marketing strategies and measuring membership satisfaction.
- Must develop strategies to increase membership sales and member retention at all levels with mid-month and year-end forecasting.
- Implement member quality standards and satisfaction survey action planning.
- Maintain membership outcome measurements.
- Develop and monitor and annual budget.
- Oversee branch media relations, advertising, digital communications and market/customer research.
- Oversee and execute marketing programs and events, member and staff communication initiatives and production of marketing.
- Research, recommend and implement marketing strategies that result in increased membership and program enrollment.
- Develop operating goals and objectives and plan for the marketing and communications area as well as monitoring the achievement of the plan and taking appropriate action to ensure goals and objectives are met.
- Increase the visibility and enhance the positive image of the Ocean Community YMCA in key marketing areas.
- Responsible for assisting all Ocean Community YMCA locations in strategically growing their membership revenues.
- Hire, train, and supervise all membership department staff, including 3 full time and 20 part-time staff.
- Work Director on Duty shifts as scheduled.
- Participate in branch and association special events as needed.
- Actively participate and support the annual campaign.
- Maintain current CPR/AED, First Aid and Emergency Oxygen certifications, as well as, all other required certifications.
- All other duties assigned by supervisor.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and/or Communications preferred. Five plus years’ experience in membership, marketing and/or sales preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Must have experience with updating and maintaining websites and social media. Must possess a proven track record of demonstrated sales revenue growth and innovative advertising campaigns.
- Previous experience supervising staff is preferred. Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software. Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communication skills, including the ability to make presentations.
- Must possess excellent written, verbal and public speaking skills. Should have a career history in membership sales and revenue responsibility in excess of $2MM. Must have proven ability to relate to top community leaders as well as developing professional relationships.
