The Ocean Community YMCA, located in beautiful Southern Rhode Island, is seeking an Ice Rink Director.

The Ice Rink Director has primary responsibility for the leadership and administration of the operations, staffing, budget, management plan, programs and services of the rink. Duties include planning, promoting and administering programs of physical education and recreation, staff development, new program development, marketing, staff supervision and continuous operations improvement.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff and volunteers related to program areas.
  • Assures that programs meet the Association’s operating goals and strategic plans.
  • Promotes and incorporates the YMCA four core values and character development model into all program activities.
  • Supervises program offerings, secures sponsorships and donations.
  • Develops and manages an annual operating budget.
  • Oversight of all facility management of rink, including equipment maintenance, contract services, buildings and property.
  • Secures facility rentals.
  • Grant-writing and fund-seeking responsibilities.
  • Establishes and maintains payroll for support staff.
  • Fosters positive relationships with area businesses through sponsorships, donations, collaborations, etc.
  • Maintain current certifications in CPR/AED, First Aid and Emergency Oxygen.
  • Administers, supervises and/or instructs youth and adult programs and leagues.
  • Represents the YMCA at various community events/gatherings.
  • Plays an active leadership role in the Reach Out to Youth Support Campaign and assists leadership in the successful completion of the campaign and other related special events and activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s of Science degree in Physical Education or its equivalent with a minimum of 1 year of successful experience in physical education or recreation.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Should have competence in leadership, motivation, public relations, staff supervision, as well as, knowledge of facilities management and operating machinery and equipment (forklift, tractor, zamboni, etc.).
