The Health & Wellness Director will be responsible for the organization, delivery and quality of YMCA programs. The individual will develop and monitor the program budget to meet fiscal objectives and oversee all wellness programs, recruitment, development and supervision of part-time and non-exempt employees, coordination of special events as needed and monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of programs.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Oversees all wellness programs.
- Promotes and incorporates the YMCA four core values and character development model into all program activities.
- Recruits, trains, develops and supervises part-time and non-exempt employees and volunteers. Evaluates staff at least annually.
- Assists in marketing and distribution of program information.
- Organizes and schedules programs.
- Coordinates the Ocean Community YMCA Triathlon, the Schonning Run and other special events as needed.
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with other community organizations.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Coordinates use of branch facility for program activities and events.
- Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with the Association and branch strategic plans.
- Assists in branch fund raising activities and special events.
- Responds to all member and community inquires and complaints in a timely manner.
- Creates and schedules wellness, yoga and health programs.
- Coordinates and teaches the classes as scheduled.
- Schedules and monitors wellness attendants, wellness instructors and oversees personal trainers.
- Monitors staff certifications.
- Maintains wellness facility and equipment.
- Purchases equipment, parts and supplies as needed.
- Performs wellness evaluations for members.
- Performs duties of wellness instructor and personal trainer, and fills in as required.
- Designs and implements new health and wellness programs.
- Play an active leadership role in the Branch’s annual support campaign and assist leadership in the successful completion of the campaign and other related special events and activities.
- Maintain current CPR/AED, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen and other health and wellness certifications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology or related field plus three to five years experience preferred.
