The Membership & Marketing Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies and plans which fulfill Association strategic plan goals and objectives. The incumbent conducts analysis, develops and manages corporate account relationships. This position provides leadership for day-to-day Association sales operations while leading the Member Engagement team at the Brown Branch. This position contributes to overall Association profitability.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Implements membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction. Responsible for pre-determined membership quotas and retention rates.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs assigned staff and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates assigned staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate assigned staff and achieve goals.
- Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registration. Leads marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues.
- Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for membership/marketing and takes appropriate action to correct variances
- Ensures proper implementation of front desk procedures. Reviews and updates desk procedures and communicates changes to staff. Coordinates with the business office as necessary on financial transactions.
- Organizes membership events and community programming at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA.
- Leads and coordinates assigned aspects of fund-raising campaigns at branch level.
- Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.
- Develops annual operating goals, objectives and plan for the marketing and communications area. Monitors the achievement of this plan, taking appropriate action to ensure that the goals and objectives are met.
- Develops, produces and distributes program information necessary to promote assigned programs, in accordance with membership and marketing plans. Spearheads internal marketing to promote the Y’s cause driven culture throughout the YMCA.
- Establishes contacts with media representatives and writes and submits press releases when appropriate. Maintains updated files of YMCA’s media relations (both press and electronic). Maintains YMCA website and social media sites.
- Develops effective working relationships with service groups, community organizations and companies. Initiates and schedules presentations about the YMCA throughout our community to promote membership.
- Provides and maintains related statistics and reports.
- May plan, coordinate or assist with special events.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, marketing or related field; or equivalent experience preferred
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of sales leadership experience, including supervision of Full-Time and Part-Time Staff.
- Minimum of two (2) years of sales experience with a proven track record of initiative, creativity and motivation to surpass performance goals.
- Strong sales operations and sales process management experience
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and credibility quickly
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent presentation, writing and negotiation skills
- Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work in highly flexible, rapidly changing and fast-paced work environment
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business, marketing & presentation software.
- Previous professional experience in membership, marketing and/or sales preferred.
- Develops, produces and distributes program information necessary to promote assigned programs, in accordance with membership and marketing plans.
