The Director of Leadership Development and Training is responsible for establishing and managing association-wide training and development infrastructures that support relevant strategic goals and further succession planning. This position also works closely with other members of the association office human resources team, association and branch leadership, the Human Resources Coordinators and payroll to resolve issues, make process improvements, and improve employee retention and engagement. They will also act in a guidance counselor capacity to team members to help them create career development and training plans for a YMCA career as a cause-driven leader.
- Design, implement and evaluate onboarding, leadership, business development, and diversity and inclusion core curriculum programs. Mediums include instructor-led, group facilitation, team-building exercises, and web-based interactive programs to improve employee retention of staff to career employees. Utilize existing training programs and materials, where available.
- Implement, deliver and maintain the Y-USA Cause Driven Leadership Competency model and associated leadership certification programs and other Y-USA talent management resources and initiatives.
- Collaborate with Y-USA, association and branch leadership to identify learning needs and development. Assist with needs assessment.
- Align with senior leadership to ensure business and impact competencies assimilate with the goal of building a leadership bench for succession planning.
- Liaison with Y-USA to schedule and host an annual Regional Training Event (RTE). Coordinate, communicate and distribute all web-based training opportunities to staff.
- Manage training calendar for the Association and ensure all foundational trainings are posted and held at each branch on a monthly basis.
- Train and coach managers, supervisors and others involved in employee development efforts to support cause-driven leadership principles.
- Meets with employees at all levels to counsel and advise on individualized development needs and training plans.
- Conducts follow-up studies of completed trainings to evaluate and measure results.
- Plans, organizes, facilitates and orders supplies (including IT resouces) for employee development and training events.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Three to five years of human resources or education-related experience (or equivalent) required.
- Prior experience managing, developing and implementing training programs for multiple levels of an organization, preferred.
- Human Resources certificate, teaching certificate or training certification preferred.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or other standard business software.
- Experience with applicant tracking and HRIS software preferred including a Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
- Must be detail oriented and have excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently, effectively problem solve, and maintain confidentiality.
- Proven ability to lead by example and foster mentoring relationships.
- Display a positive, professional attitude and possess strong interpersonal skills.
Salary: $42,000.00 - $45,000.00
