We currently have an exciting leadership opportunity as Controller for our Association office located in downtown West Chester.
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller works closely with appropriate staff regarding financial matters of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine Association.
The Controller will supervise the daily operations of the Finance department and branch business managers including but not limited to: cash management, journal entry transactions, accounts payable, payroll, management reporting and internal controls. In addition, the Controller will close the monthly and yearly financials, complete audit preparation, track fixed assets, and file federal documents under the direction of the CFO. This position is concerned with providing exceptional communication and accurate information to the organization upon which good decisions can be made.
- Manage the monthly close process with speed and accuracy.
- Prepare all monthly and annual financial statements and additional supplemental financial reports required by management, the Board, and outside agencies.
- Develop, report, and monitor business performance metrics.
- Ensures that appropriate financial controls are established, monitored, and enforced.
- Manage monthly and annual budget process.
- Assess current account operations, offer recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
- Oversee the organization cash management and treasury functions including investments.
- Monitors and confirms the financial condition by conducting internal audits and managing all external third party audits.
- Maintains records, and prepares various internal and external reports, including reports for various federal and state agencies and YUSA. Supervises the preparation of the IRS Form 990 tax return.
- Serve as the system administrator for all financial systems to accomplish the proper recording and reporting of all operations, transactions, assets and liabilities of the YMCA for all funds.
- Maintains all fixed asset records and prepares all capital asset reporting.
- Provides staff training on accounting systems, policies and procedures.
- Hires, trains, supervises and manages all accounting personnel; including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, branch business managers, and general accounting areas.
- Active participant in committees and key leadership meetings.
- CPA Certification required
- 7 plus years of accounting or related experience
- 5 plus years of experience in a supervisory accounting role
- Knowledge of banks, banking systems and cash management
- Knowledge of and expertise with computerized accounting systems
- Strong analytical skills with high degree of expertise with excel
Salary: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00
