Manages the implementation, development and delivery of the Aquatics program. Recruits, trains and supports assigned staff and volunteers. Additional responsibilities include hiring and training of staff; curriculum development; budget control; and adhering to all regulatory and Association standards. The Aquatic Safety Director leads the aquatics team in providing a safe environment and provides leadership in expanding aquatic programming.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations and conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools.
- Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
- Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success.
- Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings.
- Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
- Manages the program, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistic to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program; securing and scheduling the pool facilities; and creating and scheduling the classes, and practices.
- Assists with annual campaign activities.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience required.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of two years of YMCA experience-related experience or within another organization required.
- Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff required
- Preferred knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations. Y
- MCA Team Leader certification preferred.
- Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
- Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $42,000.00
