Under the direction of the Director of Branch Operations, the Director of Gymnastics is responsible for all facets of the Gymcats gymnastics program. The Director of Gymnastics is responsible for overall administration of the gymnastics program in accordance with the mission, policies and goals of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Provides leadership, program development and coordination of the gymnastics program including the summer gymnastics camp program.
- Develops and coordinates all necessary marketing and promotion for the gymnastics program and services.
- Ensures proper building coverage is present for all program related functions in accordance with program needs and serve as Director on Duty at least one night a week.
- Provides direct program delivery.
- Executes strategies to ensure that members and program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
- Develops and controls department budget.
- Hires, trains and supervises program staff. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Ensures a positive working and program environment emphasizing the YMCA's areas of focus and character values.
- Communicates and works with other program and membership directors in order to effectively provide programs and services.
- Supervises the development and recruitment of volunteers.
- Follows and enforces safety guidelines at all times ensuring a safe environment, both physically and emotionally, for all participants and staff.
- Takes part in and solicits others to participate in the YMCA's Annual Campaign and associated fundraising activities.
- Engages in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent, preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Three years or more of gymnastics instruction and coaching experience required. Current professional member of USAG including achievement of the USAG Safety Certification and full knowledge of USAG guidelines is required. Proven skills in staff leadership and supervision, budget management and relationship building required. Seeking a team player who is flexible with work schedule as evening and weekend coverage will be required. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $35,000.00 - $38,000.00
