We are seeking an energetic, organized leader to serve as our School Age Director. The School Age Director supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages, directs and coordinates the school age child care programs for assigned location(s); ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities; expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans
  • Assist the Day Camp Director to coordinator the Day Camp program
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed; reviews and evaluates staff performance; develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals
  • Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position; ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected; supports and budgets for healthy eating through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality
  • Ensures that YMCA program standards and Wisconsin State Licensing requirements are met and safety procedures followed
  • Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living
  • Develops and maintains relationships with Wisconsin state child care licensing, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs; responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner
  • Maintains proper records/department files
  • Attends Day Camp and School Age Cabinet meetings
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information
  • Compiles program statistics; monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
High School Diploma or equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 18 years of age
  • 2 years experience in Child Care
  • Preferred supervisory experience
  • Education must comply with the DCF Wisconsin Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers
  • Current CPR/AED certification preferred; required within 30 days of hire
  • Must complete a Health Physical and TB test within 30 days of hire

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The ability to lift 40 lbs
  • The ability to interact with children at their level
  • The ability to participate in all required physical activities with the children
