The Aquatics Coordinator reports to the Program Operations Director and the Aquatics Director and assists in supervising and managing the Kettle Moraine YMCA aquatic department and programs. The Aquatics Coordinator will be responsible for assisting with pool operations and supervising staff. They must have the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and members, and they must possess a style of leadership that is team-orientated.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assist in providing direction and leadership to the Aquatic Department.
- Work with the Aquatics Director in supervising all aquatic programming to meet branch objectives and ensure quality programming.
- Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate aquatic staff with the Aquatics Director.
- Develop strategies to motivate staff and create plans to achieve goals.
- Assist with maintenance and repair of aquatics facility and equipment
- Perform 30 hours per week regular direct service: lifeguarding, swim instruction, safety class instruction and deck supervision.
- Create schedules and fill in gaps when necessary.
- Monitor daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
- Cooperate and assist other program directors in the administration of special events and activities; supports and volunteers to be a part of the Annual Scholarship Fundraising Campaign.
- Upholds YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management.
- Addresses member concerns in a timely manner and passes along information and concerns to the Aquatics Director and/or appropriate program director.
- Maintains cleanliness in the aquatic facility.

- Attends all department meetings and any other training that may be deemed necessary.

Educational Background:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills/Experience:
- Preferred Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, Lifeguarding, YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor, WSI
- One to two years of related experience.
- Scheduled weeknight and weekend availability.
- Excellent administrative, organizational, customer service and communication skills. Must be detail orientated.
- Ability to react to emergency situations by quick movements, strenuous activity, and on occasion assist or lift persons in distress of varying weights.
- Required to remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing, or walking for various lengths of time.
