Under the direction of the Program Operations Director, the Youth Sports Director is responsible for the leadership, vision and operations of Youth Sports programming and services offered at the Kettle Moraine YMCA- Feith Family Ozaukee Branch and to create an exceptional member and participant experience. These programs and services include but are not limited Youth Sports, Adult Sports, Homeschool programming, and Day Camp Sports Camps. This position will maintain a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the program and will include evening and weekend work.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Direct, develop and administer a comprehensive Youth Sports Program consisting of all youth sports termed in demand by the community.
- Develop yearly goals, action play for goal achievement and report to supervisor quarterly on progress.
- Evaluate program pricing on as needed basis.
- Monitor and approve timesheets for assigned staff and volunteers.
- Provide at least 20-25 hours of direct service per week, dependent on the season and need.
- Directly supervise the Youth Sports staff team, including volunteers, site coordinators, and coaches. Set goals including extensive knowledge of off-site policies and procedures (including emergency procedures).
- Constantly and consistently evaluate the Youth Sports paid and non-paid staff team members and conduct annual reviews.
- Build relationships and work with other local agencies including school districts and recreation departments. Maintain a professional working relationship with all.
- Hire, train, evaluate, review, coach and counsel (as needed) assigned staff and volunteers in accordance with Human Resource procedures and policies.
- Schedule staff meetings as needed.
- Perform MOD duties as assigned.
- Recruit, train and schedule volunteers to work with youth sports and enrichment.
- Staff, coordinate, market, and program the homeschool programming.
- Directly involved with the planning of Healthy Kids Day, family nights, and other family events.
- Work directly with Day Camp Director to plan and administer summer Sports Camps for Day Camp participants.
- Provide support for summer day camp with the Day Camp Director.
- Create, review, change, and update the program guide with the Program Operations Director and Marketing Director.
- Plan, develop, manage and maintain the annual budget of income and expense for all supervised accounts.
- Analyze training needs of departmental program staff and provide appropriate training experiences within budged guidelines.
- Conduct and prepare program evaluations including cost analysis, program enrollments, and qualitative measure of program and membership services.
- Actively participate in the Annual Campaign Events including the Staff Campaign and Golf Outing.

- Attends all department meetings and any other training that may be deemed necessary.
- Including the New Staff Orientation which must be completed before hire.
- Including the Kettle Moraine YMCA Living Our Cause Training which must be completed within six to twelve months of working at the YMCA, to be eligible for an increase in pay.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience:
- At least 21 years of age
- Previous experience in team formation and league scheduling
- Practical understanding and comprehensive knowledge of youth development, age appropriate activities, and general knowledge of all sports is required.
- High levels of written and oral communication skills as well as customer service skills are required.
- CPR/AED/First Aid certified or willing to obtain within first 6 months of hire.
Compensation/Benefits:
$28,000.00 - $32,000.00
