Under the direction of the District Executive, the Branch Director is responsible for operations of the West Washington Branch. They will provide leadership and ownership to the Branch and supervision to the Membership Director, Healthy Living Director, Donor Development Director, Aquatics Director, Facilities Director and Program Operations Director. The Branch Director also provides guidance and support to the staff and departments they do not directly oversee but are operating out of their branch, as it relates to building and member needs.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop annual budget for assigned areas. Manage approved budget within procedures and policies. Make corrective action monthly to ensure year end budget is met. Assess and recommend budgeting for capital improvement projects.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and supervise assigned staff and volunteers in accordance with Human Resource procedures and policies.
  • Conduct daily and weekly walkthroughs to ensure the highest levels of safety, quality and cleanliness are being met in all areas. Follow up with appropriate staff to correct any issues in a timely manner. Follow up on all decisions and recommendations from WBMI/NSA throughout the year and after the Day Camp safety training.
  • Own the branch. Build relationships with all levels of staff and with members. Handle member complaints and discipline.
  • Provide support to all departmental cabinets and attend cabinet meetings as needed. Lead Association cabinets as required (or as needed).
  • Attend Board of Director Committee Meetings as needed. Lead a Board Committee as required (or as needed).
  • Participate in the development and assist with the implementation of the Strategic Plan. Work with the District Executive to ensure departments build goals to support the Strategic Plan.
  • Plan and lead weekly branch huddle meetings and monthly branch supervisor meetings.
  • Monitor and approve timesheets for assigned staff and volunteers.
  • Actively participate in fundraising events for the respective branch.
  • With the Marketing Director, review, add, change, update the Program Guide for each session.
  • Evaluate program pricing on a yearly basis with District Executive.
  • Periodically do a formal evaluation of programs and compile results for analysis with the District Executive and the Program & Membership Committee.
  • Keep records essential for control, evaluation, and reporting to the committees, Board and CEO. Prepare quarterly and annual Program Committee reports on the activities of specific programs for committees.
  • At the discretion of the District Executive, attend workshops and seminars to increase knowledge and skills.
  • Serve as weekly/weekend CDL as scheduled.
  • Provide leadership at a neighborhood and state level as requested.
  • Be comfortable working to implement the Mission Statement of the YMCA.
  • Build relationships with and between members, volunteers, staff and the communities we serve.
  • Acts as a positive role model using the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year college institution.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Five years of management experience required including supervision and development of staff
  • Hold YMCA Multi-Team/Branch Leader Certification or higher or able to obtain
  • Ability to interact effectively with external organizations, informal networks and individuals.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to meet all deadlines.
  • Effective public speaking and ability to positively represent the organization in variety of settings
  • A high level of written and oral communication skills, as well as customer service skills, is required.
  • Be certified in CPR/AED and knowledgeable of YMCA emergency procedure.
  • Proven ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of group fitness classes and personal training.
  • Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
  • Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills;
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to climb, push, and pull; Ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00
