Responsible for supervising the staff and for planning, developing, and implementing all childcare curriculum. Also, responsible for maintaining state licensing regulations, health and safety of the children, funding, and any program accreditation/certifications. Additionally, this position will oversee the association's child abuse prevention program ensuring all children are safe.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Direct, develop, and manage all day-to-day program operations, responsible departments, and program extension efforts in compliance with the long-range strategic plan, association standards, and safety procedures under the direction and approval of CEO
  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, development, and supervision of staff and volunteers within departments
  • Develop and implement marketing for areas of responsibilities that will positively impact the attendance and registration
  • Attend all campaign meetings and other meetings as requested
  • Purchase all equipment and supplies necessary as budgeted and approved for the success of the Y and departments
  • Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner
  • Available to work evenings and weekends as called upon or as schedule dictates due to seasonal programming needs; assist with the implementation of successful special events as needed as a member of Y program staff
  • Maintain and inventory all equipment
  • Help recruit volunteers for the Board and work the Annual Campaign
  • Maintain accurate paperwork including incident reports, registration forms, time sheets, new hire forms, attendance, and enrollment records
  • Keep areas clean and equipment organized
  • Report any equipment breakdowns or safety issues to CEO
  • Communicate regularly with children and parents
  • Adhere to and implement YMCA mission and philosophy
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants
  • Supervise staff to provide a safe and healthy environment
  • Organize and schedule program registrations
  • Compile and report program statistics
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of, and participation in, programs
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other community organizations
  • Establish new program activities and expand program within the community in accordance with the Association strategic plan
  • Attend all trainings as required for maintaining position
  • Maintain records and information on past programs
  • Create and schedule all sessions and activities
  • Monitor all daily activities in operations to adhere to all state, local, and YMCA health and safety regulations
  • Coordinate use of facilities for daily activities
  • Secure facilities and admissions for field trips and events
  • Purchase and distribute supplies for all activities
  • Oversee the operations and maintenance of all buses
  • Develop meaningful and sustainable relationships with members, donors, and volunteers
  • Resolve all issues related to returned checks and late or overdue payments
  • Oversee the association’s child abuse prevention program ensuring all children are safe
  • Develop and follow annual budget
  • Develop and oversee Childcare Program Advisory Committee
  • Recruit, train, and develop program staff and volunteers
  • Other duties as assigned and determined necessary.
Educational Background: 
 Must be 21 years of age with bachelor’s degree in child development, elementary, or secondary education, or a closely related subject
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must be certified in CPR and First Aid within 90 days of hire and renewed annually
  • Must have CDL within 60 days of hire and clean driving record
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in management, preferably in a Y or other child care setting
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team/Branch Leader certification preferred
  • Must be willing to obtain YMCA certifications
  • Must meet all qualifications set by the Department of Human Services to uphold DHS 3-Star accreditation and nationally accredited center
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Knowledge of Y programs, program development, and acceptance of management practices
  • Must be creative and demonstrate initiative in program development
  • Must be able to project enthusiasm to staff and program participants
  • Proven ability to lead staff and volunteers
  • Ability to work under occasionally stressful conditions and to work irregular hours as needed
  • Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills
  • Ability to interpret, adopt, and apply guidelines/procedures
  • Ability to work as team member, respecting the ideas of others, and to make decisions independently
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Ability to multitask effectively
  • Excellent customer service, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Must exemplify and support the philosophy of the YMCA
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00
