Under the Direction of the Aquatics Director and Executive Director/CEO, the Sports Coordinator will develop, organize and implement high-quality programs that fulfill the mission of the YMCA.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Coordinates and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Under the direction of the Aquatic Director conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Secures and schedules pool facilities. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
- Assists in conducting lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid, O2 and CPR training.
- Secures and schedules athletic fields and facilities. Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices; monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits.
- Purchases and distributes team uniforms and awards; coordinates with the photographer for team pictures
- Creates teams for each league. Organizes and conducts coach’s meetings and training.
- Develops and distributes team practice and game schedules; trains and schedules sports officials; develops and distributes sports rules, guidelines and handbooks.
- Organizes and schedules program registrations.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
- Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
Skills/Experience:
- One to two years related experience preferred
- Must have a minimum of 3 years soccer experience
- Must complete YMCA program-specific certifications including CPR/First Aid and lifeguard certification within first 90 days of employment
- Must complete Certified Pool Operator and CPR/First Aid/Lifeguard Instructor training within the first year of employment
- The incumbent must be able to organize programs, supervise staff and maintain the facility. Along with all of the qualifications one needs to have motivation, a positive Christian attitude and be a team member.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $24,000.00 - $26,000.00
