Association Marketing Director

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Association Marketing Director is responsible for developing and implementing effective internal and external marketing strategies and collateral to advance the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County’s mission and goals throughout the communities served by our five membership branches and three satellite locations.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Support and demonstrate the Y’s mission, purpose, and policies.
  • Articulate, prioritize, and lead the implementation of multi-faceted marketing strategies that build community awareness, enhance member experience, improve processes and performance, and engage staff and volunteers.
  • Serve as an expert in branding, voice, and messaging across all online and offline channels and ensure that all marketing and communication materials follow Y-USA guidelines, are brand compliant, have impact, and are meaningful for the intended audience.
  • Create materials for marketing and communications initiatives to include, but not restricted to, digital and print advertisements, e-blasts, banners, posters, flyers, brochures, newsletters, website, reports, social media, and other print, online, and creative materials.
  • Stay up to date on the newest trends, tools, and insights in marketing, while serving as a resource and advocate across the organization to optimize plans based on these insights.
  • Build strong relationships with external partners and vendors to ensure alignment with project expectations.
  • Oversee the day to day operations of the Marketing Department, managing all association initiatives, graphic design, digital marketing, special projects, and incoming requests.
  • Directly supervise two full-time marketing staff (Digital Marketing Specialist and Marketing Specialist) through effective performance management, communication, and coaching.
  • Develop, monitor, and administer annual marketing budget and maintain a positive fiscal position.
  • Serve as public relations spokesperson for the association on all media interactions that help promote and impact the Association to include internal and external crisis communications planning, management, training and response.
  • Lead Association Marketing Cabinet and provide ongoing support to cabinet and team members.
  • Participate on Association Leadership Team and serve as staff liaison to Association Board Membership & Marketing Committee.
  • Contribute to and maintain a professional work environment of cross-functional collaboration and creative problem solving by developing strong relationships across the organization to achieve Association goals and priorities.
  • Demonstrate integrity, promote teamwork, foster positive communication, and lead collaborative and forward-thinking relationships with staff and colleagues.
  • Act as the liaison with the YMCA of the USA on marketing communication and initiatives.
  • Participates in Association and branch events including the Annual Campaign, special events, and meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three or more years of professional experience in marketing leadership; digital marketing strategy experience preferred.
  • Three or more years of department leadership experience, including staff supervision and budget management.
  • Experience developing high-level marketing and brand strategy in line with the global strategic vision of the Y. This includes brand positioning and awareness.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and strong understanding of digital tools, marketing software, and standard business software, including proficiency with MS Office, html/website management, Content Management Systems, Web applications, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator, and internet technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, public relations, and communications skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, results oriented, and collaborative work culture, as well as an interest in advancing the organization’s ability to be strategic, innovative, and high performing.
  • Must have the ability to travel to branches during the course of the workday and occasionally work evenings and/or weekend hours during special events/promotions.

Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00
