Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Oversees three full-time staff, including ELC Center Coordinator and SAC Site Coordinators, and 90 part-time staff, to ensure quality delivery of youth programs, including program creation, promotion, planning, and evaluation. Assure that the leadership staff is fulfilling all requirements set by local, state, federal, and other standards necessary to operate a fully functional and licensed childcare facility and/or quality youth enrichment programs.
  • Oversees management of accounts receivable, not limited to the DHS billing, Head Start billing, and the food program.
  • Prepares annual $1.1 million youth programs budget in consultation with the CEO. Administers the approved budget and takes appropriate action to achieve budget targets, manage resources, and correct variances.
  • Assists coordinators to recruit, screen, hire, train, develop and evaluate teachers, site coordinators, counselors and other personnel necessary to ensure quality delivery of childcare programs; conduct employee performance appraisals in a timely manner and within Association policies. Work with the CEO to assure that all job descriptions for YMCA childcare and youth programs staff are kept up-to-date.
  • Schedule, plan and conduct staff meetings on a regular basis, to enhance communication, provide necessary training, and provide other staff the opportunity to be involved in program development, creative problem-solving, and to provide their input to successful program operation.
  • Conduct periodic checks of each program site to assure that DHS licensing standards and Head Start standards are being maintained.
  • Actively works with other program staff in the creation and administration of new program material; evaluates all programs on a periodic basis to ensure adequate growth, relevance, safety, and quality of delivery.
  • Ensures the childcare facilities are neat, orderly, and free from all safety impediments. Is responsible for establishing a reports procedure for incidents/accidents that occur within the facility, ensuring all necessary written reports are submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Keeps records essential for control, evaluation and reporting to the Programs Committee, the Board of Directors, and the CEO. Prepares monthly and annual reports.
  • Maintains monthly work schedules, bi-weekly time sheets and all required childcare forms, completing and submitting monthly forms to appropriate offices.
  • Participate in YMCA fundraising and financial development activities such as; grant writing, implementation and reporting, and the annual fundraising campaign.
  • Develop annual and long-range goals and objectives for the all YMCA youth development programs, based on the YMCA mission, strategic long range plan, evaluation feedback, and community needs; and prepare necessary work plans.
  • Promotes membership enrollment and program participation; assures careful assimilation of new members and program participants into the youth programs.
  • Develop, teach, and seek out professional growth opportunities for YMCA youth development staff.
  • Represents the YMCA and maintains its relationship with relevant organizations in the community such as Head Start, Child Care Resource and Referral, AEA 267, local school districts, and participates in the Early Childhood Task Team.
  • Must exemplify appropriate behavior and act as a role model for participants showing the core values of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
  • Works as a Leadership Staff team member to help cooperatively lead the organization. Weekly Leadership Staff meetings are required.
  • Perform other duties, as necessary, to assure excellent operation of the YMCA.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field required. Master’s degree in related field preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience facilitating youth enrichment and recreation programs, including progressive levels of responsibility in program planning, oversight, and management.
  • 3-5 years of experience supervising staff, including conducting such activities as hiring, onboarding, ongoing staff development, coaching, and performance reviews.
  • Understanding of basic accounting concepts and applications including cash reconciliation, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. Prior budget management experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $42,000.00 - $47,000.00
