This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Membership and Operations Director intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while ensuring quality member services and implementing strategies to grow/retain members. The Membership and Operations Director also ensures the branch follows all business procedures.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Ensures programs and services meet community needs.
  • Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registration. Coordinates with marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues.
  • Ensures a level of service and engagement that fosters loyalty among those we serve.
  • Organizes membership events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA.
  • Ensures proper implementation of front desk procedures. Reviews and updates desk procedures and communicates changes to staff in a clear, concise way.  Coordinates with the business office as necessary on financial transactions.
  • Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for membership and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
  • Leads membership staff and volunteers effectively; recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams; onboards and develops them for success.
  • Manages branch accounts receivable. Ensures daily deposits of all cash. Reviews the daily cash reconciliation. Reviews and follow ups on returned checks and bank drafts.
  • Recruits, trains, and supervises assigned staff and volunteers. May assist new staff with onboarding processes. Navigates employee concerns; demonstrates a settling presence, even during times of crisis and challenge; and helps resolve conflict in the work place.
  • Assists branch staff and serves as the point person at the branch for software and business questions.
  • Manages purchasing of supplies and equipment for business operations of the branch.
  • Processes new employee paperwork in Payroll software and assists with other payroll office duties.
  • Coordinates and supports assigned aspects of the annual support campaign at the branch.
  • Gathers relevant, valid data to make appropriate decisions.
  • Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments 
    of the community.
  • Understanding of basic accounting concepts and applications including cash reconciliation, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary Range:  $33,000-$36,000
