This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. A key role in this position is facilitating our achievement gap program initiatives, including the Y Believe Summer Learning Academy and playing an instrumental role in the development and delivery in our Y Achievement Gap Afterschool Programs.

- Oversees site coordinators and other personnel with regards to the operations of programs, including program creation, promotion, planning, and delivery. Assure that the staff is fulfilling all requirements set by local, state, federal, and other standards necessary to operate a fully functional and licensed childcare facility and/or quality youth enrichment programs.
- Recruit, screen, hire, train, develop and evaluate site coordinators and other personnel necessary to ensure quality delivery of school-age programs.
- Schedule staff, staff development which includes planning and conducting staff meetings on a regular basis, to enhance communication, provide necessary training, and provide other staff the opportunity to be involved in program development, creative problem-solving, and to provide their input to successful program operation.
- Conducts regular visits to each program site.
- Ensures sign in/out sheets and incidents/accidents reports are submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
- Reports participant hours to DHS provider portal in a timely and accurate manner.
- Manages program within annual budget parameters, including overseeing and managing staff hours and overseeing participant fees and payments.
- Promotes program enrollment and participation.
- Maintains monthly work schedules for staff, bi-weekly time sheets and all required childcare forms, completing and submitting monthly forms to appropriate offices.
- Participates in YMCA fundraising and financial development activities such as; grant writing, implementation and reporting, the Annual Fundraising Campaign and other fundraising events.
- Assists with planning and facilitation of Y-wide community and family events.
- Must exemplify appropriate behavior and act as a role model for participants showing the core values of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
- Performs other duties, as necessary, to assure excellent operation of the YMCA youth development programs.
- Experience facilitating youth development programs, including such areas as camp, before/after school programs, and/or enrichment programs for school-age youth.
- Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Paid Time Off: During your first year you will have 15 Annual PTO Days, accrued at the rate of 5 hours per pay period (max of 120 hours may be accrued annually).
Retirement: Upon being vested (after 2 years of YMCA employment with 1,000 hours worked in each of those two years), the Family YMCA of Black Hawk County will make contributions into the YMCA Retirement Fund Plan at the rate of 8%, fully paid by the Y. Health & Dental Insurance: After 30 days of regular full-time employment, you are eligible for participation in the YMCA’s group health and dental insurance plans. The YMCA pays 75 percent of employee’s individual coverage, while employee is responsible paying 25 percent and any costs associated with a family plan.
