We are seeking an intern for a paid position supporting communications, community outreach, and operations for AARP’s volunteer hub. If you are looking for an opportunity to develop your skills and make an immediate impact, both online and offline, this may be the position for you! The duration of this internship will be June, 2019 through December 2019.
- Collect and develop content for Create the Good’s website, social media and enewsletter
- Assist with transitioning to new website platform including review of content, testing of new functionalities, and providing user experience feedback
- Assist with data management (record clean up and library archiving) on the Volunteer Portal
- Process new volunteer prospect data daily
- Research and gather material, shape content for volunteers, dispense information to volunteers through the Volunteer Portal
- Provide customer service support to the Helpline team when needed
- Other duties as assigned
AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers. This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program.
Additional requirements:
- Ambitious, self-starter who works well with a team
- Customer service experience (phone and/or email)
- Strong comfort with technology
- Intermediate to advance knowledge of Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Experience with a social media management platform, like Hootsuite, Spredfast or Sprinklr preferred, but not required
- Experience with a content management system like Wordpress or Drupal preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Problem solving ability
- Volunteer experience highly desired
