Vice President of AARP Studios

The Vice President of AARP Studios will be responsible for overseeing the work of AARP Studios, including creating and implementing a video and audio strategy for the organization. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Effectively manages the AARP Studios staff and budget.  Establishes and cultivates an energetic culture that allows for the creation of a high volume of high-performing content at reasonable costs. 
  • Creates a strategy for the work of the Studio that reflects the AARP brand and coordinates with the AARP platforms that need and benefit from video content.  
  • Leads a well-organized staff with clear responsibilities who understands the AARP brand.  Encourages staff to grow professionally in ability and competence.   
  • Leads AARP Studios to focus the volume of video content across AARP’s main/brand platforms: the website, Facebook, You Tube, Instagram and Digital/.org/App channels.  
  • Develops video content for AARP priorities (Caregiving, Disrupt Aging, Work and Jobs, Financial Resiliency, campaigns etc . as well as AARP’s internal video content needs that is used on AARP’s main/brand platforms. 
  • Discovers and establishes new/innovative ways of creating content ( audio content,  AR/VR tools).
  • Understands data and tests and learns across multiple channels to assess effectiveness of video content’s appeal  
  • Oversees the Studios technical needs.  
  • Assesses video productions (movies, scripted and non-scripted TV and streaming programming) that AARP could offer financial support to if such work effectively represents AARP’s brand and priorities.
Educational Background: 
 Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations or related communications field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of 15 years relevant work experience.
  • Solid experience as a respected leader in multichannel content creation.
  • Excellent management skills overseeing creative personnel.
  • Excellent creative video skills. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Knowledge and experience in overseeing up-to-date video production for digital platforms.
  • Knowledge and experience in creating podcasts and other forms of audio story telling.
  • Proven experience understanding data and how it effects and improve creative choices
  • Proven editorial skills.
  • Outstanding command of the English language.
  • Experience in creating a resource or library of content.
