Develops the value-added service pipeline for the AARP Medicare Supplement Program directed by AARP Services, Inc. (ASI) resulting in up to $20 million in incremental new royalty revenue to AARP. Oversees the management of the day-to-day activities of the existing value-added services portfolio, including, but are not limited to, fitness benefits, wellness services, brain health tools and resources, nutrition services, social isolation, and remedies, etc. Oversees the shared goals of AARP, ASI, and provider-partners that will increase membership value and support membership acquisition and renewal. Oversees value-added services budgets and drives revenue and/or engagement. Ensures programs meet the highest levels of member satisfaction and service.
- Develops and manages the value-added service pipeline and portfolio for the AARP Medicare Supplement Program insured through United Healthcare and for the day-to-day provider relationship for assigned value-added services relationships. Ensures ongoing relationship management duties, including account planning, critical communications with providers and vendors, initiative prioritization, contract renewal, and frequent and regular formal and informal meetings with providers and vendors.
- Identifies new potential products and vendors and works with appropriate staff to develop new business opportunities. Determines and directs future value-added service enhancement decisions based on member wants and needs.
- Negotiates contracts and agreement terms with matrix input and interfaces with senior-level stakeholders across ASI, AARP, and new and potential value-added service vendors
- Reviews, monitors, and assesses overall budgets, business, and operation plans for current and future years. Provides input into the development of plans with the provider and vendors to continuously improve program performance and member satisfaction
- Manages the ongoing quality and compliance review process of the value-added service program and provider/partner.\
- Works with appropriate management to set strategic direction for programs and services development.
- Leads an informed decision making process for issues that affect the program and proactively reaches out across the enterprise to gather input from key business partners and internal experts (matrix partners). Sets key agenda items for major cross-functional provider meetings.
- Acts as the subject matter expert on value-added services and provider/programs -- understands the health of the relationships, the state of the provider and vendors’ business, progress against key goals and initiatives, the competitive environment, and any environmental impacts.
- Manages to plan, reflecting the status of progress against the annual goals and the status of key deliverables and strategic initiatives. Regularly convenes program matrix teams to communicate priorities and status and to promote a healthy program matrix, with a fully informed extended team.
- Maintains knowledge about key AARP and ASI strategies (policy, advocacy, portfolio, and membership) and represents these strategies to provider and vendors and explains their impact on the business. Represents provider/program and vendors’ point of views on internal assessments.
- Assesses key membership strategies, such as increasing multi-cultural member engagements and prioritizing and positioning strategies appropriately with providers and vendors.
- Manages systems and processes to ensure compliance with all contract terms, including oversight of marketing plans, product operational plans, and product enhancements.
- Maintains a highly collaborative approach to growing the program and vendor relationships.
- A minimum of 10+ years of relationship/program management and/or product development experience, preferably in the health insurance industry or a related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position.
- Strong knowledge of value-added marketplace, including, but not limited to, fitness benefits, wellness services, brain health tools and resources, nutrition services, social isolation remedies, etc.

- Excellent written, verbal, visual/presentation, and interpersonal communications skills.
- Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
