The Senior Specialist, Data Analytics will provide operational support to the Public Policy division. Duties focus on maintaining and updating the advocacy and public policy web application databases. They will conduct data analyses for graphic display in a number of formats including Tableau, and dashboards built with HTML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery along with Highcharts and Datatables for dissemination both internally and externally. The position actively works to improve division data stores and is able to identify, analyze, and communicate trends. They will also be the division’s primary point of contact for the website developer.  

This position is based in the Association’s office in Washington, D.C. and reports to the Director of Operations.  

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Identifies, analyzes, and interprets significant data trends or patterns using MyQL and Excel 
  • Effectively communicates analyses and analyzes data for the Chief Public Policy Officer, department leaders and external audiences  
  • Works with division colleagues to provide data-driven products such as dashboards, state points reports, District Forum District (DFD) reports, Excel reports, and Forum registration district reports to evaluate and inform practices 
  • Manages relationships with external web and related vendors 
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, or Computer Science 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 3 years’ progressive, professional experience with data management and analysis 
  • Possesses technical expertise regarding data models, database design and data mining 
  • Possesses professional, progressive, demonstrable project and process management experience 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Adept at SQL queries, report writing and presenting findings 
  • Working knowledge of probability and statistics. Familiarity with statistical software preferred 
  • Familiarity with business intelligence software such as Tableau preferred 
  • Experience with web development and scripting languages (particularly JavaScript and PHP) preferred 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) 
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for the job
