Sr. Director, Private Sector Engagement

The Senior Director will support Sr. Vice President by providing oversight on Private Sector engagement team and operations. This includes oversight of corporate partnerships, annual fundraising goal of approximately $20 million, internal budget, internal review of documents of engagement, managing staff and implementing department strategy.  The Senior Director will have several managers and/or directors reporting directly to her/him who will be responsible for implementation.  Potential for up to 25% travel (domestic and international). This position is based in Washington, DC.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Internal

  • Has responsibility for the Corporate Revenue goal on an annual basis and represents PSE at Fundraising Steering Committee. This includes annual projections, annual corporate revenue strategy and the implementation of the corporate engagement strategy.  Responsible for PSE budget and works closely with Program Operations (accounting and finance).
  • Works closely with the Sr. Vice President (based in California), Chief Conservation Officer and other conservation staff to ensure PSE alignment and support of conservation strategies, initiatives and goals across multiple corporate partnerships. Provide local leadership for PSE in DC office.
  • Along with directors and sr. directors leads the development of strategy for individual companies and works closely with the team to develop proposals and plans for specific private sector engagements
  • Manages a team that will include directors, fundraisers, relationship managers, technical and operations staff.
  • Is responsible for the Business Services team (operations staff) to ensure that all revenue is booked in the appropriate fashion, all donors receive acknowledgements and all reporting is completed in a timely fashion.
  • Works closely with WWF International’s Corporate Relations Team and colleagues at other national offices to coordinate private sector engagement across the WWF Network.

External

  • Represents WWF at relevant internal and external events and meetings on all issues related to PSE to drive transformational change.
  • Participates in stakeholder and partner group meetings.
  • Speaks at business-related events and conferences as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
A Bachelor's degree is required, a Master’s degree in a related field (e.g. MBA or Environmental Studies) is preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 15+ years experience in business, sustainability, conservation, nonprofit management, or relevant background.
  • Excellent people management skills. Ability to work well in cross-functional teams and enjoys mentoring team members.
  • Strong communications and collaboration skills required. Dynamic and alignment-building with internal stakeholder groups.
  • Proven track record of delivering on revenue goals.
  • Ability to operate with independence and collaboratively, under pressure, to meet deadlines and commitments.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • International experience and language other than English is preferred (Spanish, Mandarin Chinese or Portuguese).
