Leading enterprise category management efforts in the Professional Services category as it relates to labor based procurement activities involving independent contractors, temporary labor, consultants and consulting services, managed service providers and outsourced service agreements across multiple departments to include IT, Marketing, Brand, HR and others. (Professional Services category is over $100 million in annual spend).

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Serving as a Professional Services category subject matter expert. Collaborating with business unit leadership to develop annual category management plans that include spend analytics, an annual sourcing calendar, a supply market overview, summary of business needs and cost drivers, and current supply-base overview (complete with listing of expiring agreements and plan of action).
  • Collaborating with business unit and department leadership to develop annual category management plans that include an annual sourcing calendar, a supply market overview, summary of business needs and cost drivers, and current supply-base overview (complete with listing of expiring agreements and plan of action)
  • Supporting large, complex sourcing and negotiation efforts as part of the category management plan.
  • Leading and managing sourcing teams for medium complexity projects, including multiple business units and other Procurement resources.
  • Manage RFI/RFP development, utilizing standards, as appropriate, while allowing for flexibility in addressing customer requirements. Manage the summary and analysis of responses to RFIs/RFPs.
  • Critically evaluating information gathered from multiple sources, reconciling conflicts, decomposing high-level information into details, developing spend analytics, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguishing user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Leading reporting efforts (spend, category, compliance, etc.) as required by the Procurement department and by business clients.
  • Ensuring the procure-to-pay process for the category is compliant and in-line with service levels

Educational Background: 
The ideal candidate for this role will possess a college degree, with an MBA preferred, and 3-5 years of relevant procurement experience – preferably with the majority in the private sector, with more than $15 million in managed spend.
Skills/Experience: 
  • They must understand category management concept and frameworks.
  • The candidate must show demonstrated leadership and a customer service mindset, and a deep understanding of both the source-to-contract and procure-to-pay segments of procurement operations.
  • Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate strong analytical skills and comfort with data manipulation and analysis.
  • Key competencies include: leadership; subject matter expertise in the category they will lead (or the aptitude to learn it quickly); solid strategic sourcing and negotiations experience; relationship management skills and executive presence, and both analytical and strategic thinking.
