The Senior Manager, Operations fills a critical role in realizing successful outcomes for Content, Communications and Public Affairs programs. S/he works across teams, bringing operational, analytical, and technical expertise to bear on the strategic mission of the division. The Senior Manager, Operations (CCPA) deploys a user-centric design-thinking approach to evaluating, prioritizing and executing business projects. S/he leads CCPA teams in a holistic discovery process to define structure, build business cases and determine the programmatic requirements necessary to implement new or evolving system, technology and business projects. Through thoughtful collaborations with Digital Product and Technology teams, s/he ensures best in class systems are created and deployed delivering exceptional constituent experiences. S/he offers important grounding and strategic insight for CCPA projects to NG support teams acting as a unifying point of contact to increase transparency and streamline communication. The Senior Manager, Operations (CCPA) optimizes enterprise applications through identifying opportunities for enhancements and ensuring proper use and adoption across business units. S/he clearly articulates the data, access, reporting, and analytics needs of the division, delivering business intelligence and analysis as needed. Further, the Senior Manager, Operations (CCPA) supports executive leadership through ensuring CCPA operates effectively as a unit under a shared set of standard operating procedures while adhering to the broader operational framework and organizational policies of NGS.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Distill CCPA requirements for system, digital, programmatic and operational projects. Create roadmaps, timelines, system models, and other resources to facilitate and complement the work of the Project Management Office.  Serve as the business partner to System Administrators and Digital Product Managers to promote user-centric design of systems and develop timely, effective, business functional products. Oversee such projects for CCPA managing the ongoing collaboration and coordination with cross divisional stakeholders.  Inform decisions to determine appropriate profile and permissions to ensure proper access and permissions to data in accordance to established business rules.  Serve as CCPA expert on NG data models and critical business rules and processes that inform architecture needs and impact the work of the broader organization.  Identify, prioritize and maintain CCPA enhancement requests maximizing value of NG systems.  Coordinate with technology teams ensuring projects are designed to meet organizational objectives.  Advise on business decisions to determine best use of NG Systems and tools.  Stay up to date on platform features and marketplace opportunities across the tools used by CCPA. (55%)
  • Work with CCPA teams and project leads to gain an understanding of their goals and desired outcomes.  Asses operational needs and deliver solutions which provide value.  Design and optimize CCPA best practices and general use of business-critical applications.  Act as the connective tissue between business pillars to develop a cohesive user journey across experiences and platforms.  Provide a support framework for the division including overseeing the development of reference guides and the deployment of an effective training program tailored to supporting the Science and Exploration programmatic vision. (30%)   
  • Work with CCPA business owners to understand measures of success and reporting needs; advise on appropriate sources for data driven reporting.  Represent all CCPA business units to prioritize and communicate data, reporting, and analytics needs to the Data Manager.  Collaborate to produce reports, which serve the business needs and inform decisions.  Ensure optimization of the division’s use and maintenance of data and systems in alignment with enterprise data governance and on recommendations from the Measurement and Evaluation and Research team. (15%)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree, Master’s degree preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 8+ years of proven leadership in business systems, project and/or product management.
  • Experience in developing well-structured business cases.
  • Proven success in designing and delivering business functional solutions especially in an environment with shifting and competing priorities.
  • A history of leading and supporting successful projects.
  • Experience leading and developing top performing teams.
  • Experience creating detailed reports and giving presentations.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Candidate should be team oriented, but confident in the value of his or her own ideas, contribution, and role, and be able to exercise independent judgment.
  • Deep understanding of Science and Exploration business priorities and programmatic work at a detailed level. 
  • Ability to translate vision into structured, discrete actions.
  • Skilled in the facilitation and elicitation of business requirements.
  • Ability to communicate business requirements and functional design objectives to technical teams
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to business and project managers
  • Deep understanding of functionality of NG systems and technology solutions including technical skills in the areas of systems integration, web technologies, database architecture, Design Thinking and Agile methodologies, CRM management and best practices.  
  • Superior interpersonal communication skills at all levels and across functional groups with the ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills and the ability to execute against numerous work streams concurrently
  • Expertise in producing and optimizing reports and visualizations which support data driven decision making
