The Senior Campaign Associate, Nothing But Nets acts as the "front-line" strategist and implementer of the campaign's grassroots engagement program, specifically in terms of champion cultivation, partnership support and grassroots advocacy efforts. The Senior Campaign Associate is a key member of the Nothing But Nets team, working closely with numerous campaign colleagues and the UN Foundation's advocacy team.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Champion Cultivation and Development

  • Grow, cultivate and manage the "Champions Council" (group of top volunteers who lead advocacy and awareness-raising activities around the U.S.), and serve as the gatekeeper for inquiries including fundraising, social media and event support.
  • Lead on strategy and implementation tactics to increase grassroots engagement and cultivate new champion prospects, serving as a primary point of contact with grassroots supporters.
  • Facilitate champion-wide communications and calls during key grassroots and/or campaign moments.
  • Develop materials and tools and provide support for in-district congressional meetings, media op-eds, and champion-led events.

Annual Leadership Summit

  • Mobilize grassroots champions to attend and prepare for the annual Leadership Summit, Nothing But Nets premiere annual advocacy training and Capitol Hill advocacy day.
  • Primary lead on identifying venue, developing agenda and skills-based session planning, facilitating internal team meetings, and handling operational logistics.
  • Support colleagues with liaising with executive office, managing the budget, and securing external speakers.

Grassroots Advocacy, Events, and Fundraising

  • Implement and manage the Champion Council sub-group of “Champion Advocates” by supporting champions schedule and train for congressional meetings, and work with the advocacy team to secure members of Congress for grassroots events.
  • Serve as initial point-of-contact for supporters and champions who organize fundraisers to support Nothing But Nets. Work with fundraising team to ensure champions receive appropriate tools and assistance with grassroots fundraising efforts.
  • Work with the Advocacy and Public Affairs teams to highlight grassroots success stories on the NothingButNets.net website and provide content for media partners and advocacy targets.
  • Support Nothing But Nets events by coordinating logistics for grassroots engagement across the country and attending events when appropriate. 

Partnership Support

  • Assist Campaign Officer with researching new prospective advocacy and grassroots partners (and potential grantees) and help to identify opportunities (such as events and conferences) with a focus on enhancing champion-building and advocacy-focused partnership portfolio.
  • Assist in material development, campaign collateral and event support for partner organizations.
Educational Background: 
College degree required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience with a track record of success.
  • Enthusiastic and energetic self-starter with a positive, proactive attitude who enjoys working with constituents, collaborating with staff, and organizing events.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, in person, over phone and in writing.
  • Experience in developing written materials and correspondence for grassroots and advocacy-related purposes (ie: blog-posts, requests for congressional meetings, event promotion, etc).
  • Experience in engaging diverse grassroots constituencies, such as university students, civil society groups, families, or faith-based communities.
  • Passion for the UN Foundation's mission and the Nothing But Nets campaign.
  • Team player that is interested in being part of a highly functioning, fast-paced group of professionals and capable of developing effective working relationships with people from a variety of organizations and functional expertise.
  • Experience with Raisers Edge, Convio, and Salesforce databases a plus.
  • Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
