NRDC is seeking an experienced advocate to join the Federal Policy team in the Climate and Clean Energy Program. This position will be focused on administrative and legislative action to advance climate solutions, clean energy research and development, deployment incentives, standards and other policies. A strong background in climate mitigation, energy policy, and carbon sequestration is essential. This position will be responsible for development of new policy approaches, engagement with a diverse set of stakeholders, and direct advocacy with policy makers.
- Develop legislative and administrative policy proposals to increase the deployment of clean energy technologies in a safe and sustainable manner, including in the power, industrial, or transportation sectors.
- Review and formulate responses quickly to a wide range of climate and energy policy topics that arise.
- Expand NRDC’s work on federal programs, incentives and standards to significantly increase renewable energy deployment nationwide.
- Advance work on carbon, capture and sequestration technologies, carbon dioxide removal approaches, and issues regarding governance and monitoring.
- Engage with policy makers and a wide range of diverse stakeholders across the political spectrum.
- Represent NRDC at public events and in the media.
- Work closely with NRDC policy experts, analysts, lobbyists and attorneys on a wide range of topics.
- At least 8 years of experience working with state and/or federal policy makers on climate and energy policy.
- Climate and energy-related policy and/or legal experience.
- Strong lobbying and direct advocacy experience.
- Ability to work with individuals and groups across a diverse set of perspectives.
- Exceptional writing and research skills.
- Excellent academic and professional record.
- Comfort interpreting scientific and technical concepts.
- Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for teamwork.
- Self-driven, efficient, independent, and able to manage competing priorities.
