The Senior Advisor, Collaboration Services O365 Lead, reports directly to the Director, End User Computing, in the Technology operations department which is a part of the ITS (Information Technology Services) organization. The Senior Advisor drives business processes and technology solutions in support of a robust and complex O365 implementation responsible for providing strategic and tactical leadership and guidance to run the O365 services and customer support for users. The Senior Advisor will identify areas of improvement and make actionable recommendations to increase operational efficiency as well as design and implement those solutions as necessary. Responsible for ensuring that the O365 performs optimally and that all services meet 99.9% availability requirements. Services supported include, Skype Online, Exchange Online, Office, Yammer and other services offered by O365. Ensures performance metrics are published regularly. Sets team goals to ensure the team meets the goals and expectations of IT leadership.Provides formal supervision to technical resources as well as managed service resources and sets vision and direction to inspire and drive continuous improvement of policies, standards and procedures. Expected to demonstrate significant depth of technical and business expertise in technology solutions. This role is responsible for providing thought leadership to fellow team members, providing high level technical architecture and driving design and build of business applications and supporting functions. The Sr. Advisor will work in a dynamic team environment where he/she will mentor other team members. The Sr. Advisor also serves as an escalation point for reported recurrent issues or known problems from internal and external customer providing advice on remediation thru architecture, plug-ins, extensions, upgrades, etc. The Sr. Advisor is required to communicate and share knowledge of the target industry frameworks with peers, AARP community at large through the appropriate communication/collaboration tools prescribed.
We are implementing all new technologies and moving users to the 0365 platform and Windows 10. This position will help us achieve our goals and move AARP into the future.
Functional Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation/Migration of/to O365
- Develop/Maintain a roadmap of O365 services for AARP.
- Develop innovative solutions taking into consideration performance, scalability and availability with realistic implementation schedules.
- Review technical specifications and design, develop and enhance software programs and applications.
- Serve as technical liaison and subject matter expert in customer interactions.
- Investigate new technologies and make recommendations regarding appropriate usage.
- Create and review requirements and functional specification documents for clarity, completeness, and implementation challenges. Contribute to technical specifications documents.
- Mentor others on architecture and design skills and concepts.
- Participate in test and production deployments.
- Share knowledge and develop staff capabilities to strengthen understanding of business needs and technology-based business solutions.
- Build organizational talent by creating a learning environment that ensures employees realize their highest potential.
- Actively work to streamline processes with the goal of speeding delivery to the customer while balancing risk management objectives.

- Provide critical input to Technical operations planning processes and development, and ensure alignment with broader ITS strategic objectives.

- Excellent management skills in managing multiple vendors
- Good technical understanding of all supported services including O365 services – Skype for Business, Exchange Online, SharePoint online, Yammer, Teams and other office 365 services.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft O365.
- Experience working and or managing in a highly matrixed, technical team organization
- Strong client service and project management skills. In particular, must have the ability to communicate with both business and technical individuals effectively and explain technologies in a non-technical manner
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
- Must have strong technical and analytical skills
- Experience with Skype for Business implementations and user adoption
- Ability to identify issues and coordinate resolutions
