350.org is looking for short-term Field Organizer! 350.org is working with partners to mobilize people across the US around the Global Climate Action Summit (GCAS) mobilization which takes place in San Francisco on Sept 8, 2018 (the Summit itself is Sept 12-14). The field organizer will support organizers in supporting and promoting sister actions in cities across the country as well as maximizing turn out for the mass mobilization in San Francisco. This event will mobilize hundreds of thousands of Americans nationally and engage them in the climate movement. The Field Organizer will work with the 350 staff, our local group affiliates, partners, and volunteers to successfully mobilize and grow our base. The field organizer will also help 350 local affiliated groups - at various stages of growth and sophistication - to build their skills, leadership and profile through training, troubleshooting and coaching.
- Provide regular communications to 350’s base and local affiliated groups via email and phone.
- Help local group leaders and organizers to develop goals and a strategic plan for the GCAS and to achieve diverse measurable targets such as maximizing turnout, coalition building, justice and equity, media and communications, fundraising, and promotion.
- Help organizers to troubleshoot problems, and resolve conflicts via phone calls and emails
- Develop and deliver trainings and frequent calls for action hosts
- Coordinate with 350 staff and partner organization staff around actions, communications, digital, and logistics.
- Coordinate and support follow-up plans
- Draft and send emails to event hosts via Action Network
- Track events, reconcile duplicate, coordinate between hosts to combine actions that are in the same city, maintain event report etc.
- Event/project management, including experience recruiting for and organizing large mobilizations; ability to provide support on goal setting, coalition building, outreach, promotion, logistics - including digital, comms, fundraising, arts, follow up, and more
- Team building, coaching, facilitation, training and volunteer coordination
- Understanding and passion for movement building and climate and social justice
- Working in networks of local groups to develop organizational leadership, structure, capacity, strategy and resources
- Ability to work with people of diverse ages and cross-culturally
- Ability to adapt quickly to new digital tools and systems
- Excellent written and verbal communications
- Experience with CRMs and digital advocacy tools including Action Network preferred
- Strong writing skills with experience writing email blasts, host toolkits, etc.
- We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.
Compensation: 4,000-5,000 per month
Full-time: commencing as soon as possible, ending on September 30th 2018. (possibility of extension to-be-determined).
